Funny you should say that, Steph…
The texts he sends…
“You’re really doing this?” Steph asked.
“Yes. I’m going to pick a place to live and I’m out of here for a little bit. I’m going to track every expense and when I close this deal and make money for everyone, I’ll get reimbursed. Trust me.”
“You have a fight in you, April. Maybe it’s the hockey thing.”
“Maybe.”
“Hey. Your brother got into a hockey fight last night.”
I tilted my head. “Since when do you watch hockey?”
“Since I decided I want to sit on your brother’s face for a few hours,” Steph said. “Now that guy is hot.”
I grabbed a notebook and threw it at Steph.
She laughed.
She knew I hated when she made comments about Andy.
It was weird.
And it was gross.
“Hey,” Steph said. “Tonight, we’re going out. A little goodbye party for you.”
“I’m not leaving forever.”
“But it’s an excuse to go out and have a drink and flirt with cute guys. Maybe you can get laid and loosen up a little and come to your senses and not take this job.”
I didn’t respond.
Steph snorted. “Come to your senses… get it?Come. As in…orgasm…”
“Real funny, Steph.”
She turned and walked to the office door. “Nobody understands me around here.”
I smiled.
My phone vibrated with another text.
My heart sank.
I was too afraid to look.
Steph hada round of shots ready to go.
She swatted Poppy’s phone out of her hand. “No phones.”
“There’s a guy here,” Poppy said.
“There’s a lot of guys here,” Katie said.
“Yeah, but this guy…”
