"Where are you off to? Aren't you guys spending the night? I'll ask the nurses to bring another bed in." Liam offered, unable to bear the thought of not having them close to him.

"I need our bed tonight. Beauty sleep is hard work," she said as she grabbed her bag and Aiden's. "How do you expect me to get my new-bride glow if I don't have enough sleep?"

Fair enough, but he had to try again. "But I'm sick."

"No, you were shot. Stop using the sick card," Eden said as she leaned over to squeeze him while he kissed Aiden's hair and pinched his cheek playfully.

Their son chuckled, pushing his hand away. "Stop, Daddy!"

"I love you three so much," Liam placed his hand on Eden's tummy and followed it up with a kiss. "Is she okay?"

She nodded. "She seems to be. But we'll find out in two weeks. We have our first doctor's appointment."

Liam sighed wistfully as he watched them leave, his heart in his throat from missing them already. How was he supposed to survive two weeks in here? He called his medical team in as soon as Eden left. He wanted to understand the extent of his injuries and see if he could go home much sooner. Dr Knight and the attending physician were pleased with his progress, but they still wanted to keep him around for another week, two at most.

"That doesn't work for me, Doc. I have a business to run. My son needs me. His mother needs me. She's pregnant and can't be alone for so long."

Dr Knight was just as adamant he wasn't going anywhere. "We'll re-evaluate in a few days."

They turned to leave, but he stopped them. "How bad is a placental abruption?"

The doctors exchanged a look before the attending replied. "We don't recommend looking to Google for answers. Your injuries are nowhere close to a placental abruption."

"I know that!" Liam said. "Eden had one in her first pregnancy, and I need to know the risks to her and the baby. Will they be okay? I looked for information, but I couldn't understand any of it."

The attending doctor stepped back into the room, and Dr Knight excused himself. He had another patient to check on. Ten minutes later, after schooling him on Eden's condition, the doctor left Liam even more terrified than he was before. He called Jace for a status report, his blood pressure shooting through the roof when he heard about Eden's confrontation with Andrei. The monitor beside him beeped out of control, and a couple of nurses rushed in and took his phone away from him. "Mr Anderson, you have to put this away!."

It took the nurses some time to calm him down and get his vitals back to normal.

When James dropped off his dinner after his last blood pressure reading for the evening, Liam was still highly upset.

"The missus said to deliver this to you."

"Thanks," he grunted, staring forlornly outside his window. "James?"

"Yes, sir?"

"That day, when I thought I was dying, I was okay with it. But when Eden told me she's pregnant, I wanted to live, James. I wanted to live so badly. And I think that's why I'm here today. She saved my life, and she doesn't know it."

"Then do what the doctors say, and you'll be out of here soon so you can wife her."

"Look at you, James. You even know about 'wifing' someone." Every part of Liam's face hurt like a bitch when he smiled.

"There's a lot I know." His handler smiled back. "I can teach you a thing or two."

"I'm sure you can," Liam laughed, regretting it when his wound threatened to bring him to his knees. He could hit the button, and within seconds, he'd be floating on a cloud of morphine. But he didn't want to waste any more time sleeping. He had a shotgun wedding to plan and had to figure out a way to do it without stressing the shit out of Eden. The attending doctor said she was a high-risk pregnancy, and the first trimester was crucial. He wanted their baby as much as he wanted to live. He wanted their baby as much as he wanted a lifetime with Eden. But what kind of life would they have if they had to constantly look over their shoulders? Putting Aleksei behind bars would only get rid of the irritation for so long.

"I know Andrei's been trying to reach me," Liam mumbled sleepily. "Why didn't you tell me?"

His head of security looked guilty as sin. "You just woke up."

"I've been awake since 10:00 AM. You've had plenty of time to tell me. Why didn't you?"

"Because your father doesn't want you involved with the Ivanovs again. Let the law deal with them."

"If Andrei was here every day, he wants something from me. Arrange a meeting with him."

"Are you out of your mind?" James bellowed, startling Liam out of his numbed state. He rarely lost his temper, but it was a sight to behold when he did. "You've just escaped with your life. This is Andrei. He's far more vicious than his brother."
