“I met him today,” Jane said, her voice laced with deep regret.

“What! How? Did he recognize you and decide to bully you? Who is he?”

“Okay, one question at a time. I feel like my head is going to explode,” she said, rubbing her forehead with her index finger while her thumb supported her. She forgot how inquisitive and talkative her friend was.

She told Natasha everything that had happened, except the part where the abuser was the famous Jasper Valentino. When her friend asked, she said she didn't bother to ask for his name.

Deciding to rest for the remaining hour of the day, she could not help but curse Jasper, repeatedly hitting the pillow, imagining it was Jasper to vent her anger.

“Easy there, girl,” Natasha said when she felt Jane was out of it.

Chapter 6:Missing C.V.

After cursing and hitting the pillow until she was tired, Jane fell asleep and threw the poor pillow to the floor. Natasha felt nothing but pity for the pillow, which had become a punching bag for her friend to vent her anger. After napping, the day went by quickly with both friends either gossiping, eating, surfing their phones, or just being lost in thought.

“Jane, wake up,” Natasha said in displeasure, shaking Jane while wondering why her friend had set an alarm to wake up but continue to sleep with the alarm blaring in her ears. Still enjoying her sleep even with both disturbances, Jane resorted to using one of the methods she knew best, and that was sprinkling a little water on Jane’s face.

“I still want to sleep some more,” Jane babbled, turning to the other side to find comfort. Tutting in disapproval, Natasha brought the loud alarm close to her ear, but the sleepy Jane swatted her hand off.

Putting off the alarm, Natasha sighed and said, “Keep on sleeping and lose the chance of going out early to win an opportunity of getting a job.” That was all it took for Jane to jump out of bed as if she had been lying on hot coals all along.

“What time is it?” Jane asked Natasha, who had a bored look on her face. Not waiting to see if she would get a reply or not, she hurriedly entered the bathroom and was out as soon as possible.

“Are you sure you bathed at all?” Natasha asked, eyeing Jane suspiciously.

“I did, I did,” the nervous Jane replied twice while dressing up in a rush. She could not afford to miss out on a chance of getting a well-paying job.

“I just hope you didn’t finish yesterday’s food,” Jane said, and Natasha, who was just about to lie back down, paused her action and gave Jane an are-you-serious kind of look.

“What?” Jane questioned.

“What if I finished it? What stopped you from waking up early to prepare breakfast for yourself?” asked Natasha with a little glare.

“You’re such a caring friend, Nat, and I appreciate you for that,” Jane suddenly broke into a sweet smile after noticing that she had annoyed her friend.

“Never mind, I left some food for you in the kitchen,” Natasha said before going back to continue with her sleep, only to be attacked with pecks from Jane.

“That’s enough now, off you go,” Natasha shoos her friend away.

“Thanks, Nat,” Jane thanked and left for the kitchen to take her breakfast. A few minutes later, Natasha frowned when she heard rustling sounds from all over the room. She had been trying to catch some sleep, but Jane would always find one way or the other to snatch it away from her. Now she had to do that by turning the room upside down.

“What now?” she asked the fidgety-looking Jane.

“My C.V., have you seen my C.V.?” Jane answered.

“What do you mean by your C.V.?” Natasha asked back as the little ounce of sleep left her at that instant.

“I remember keeping it there, which I’m sure you saw yesterday,” Jane said, pointing over to the table, which held more books and papers than it should have, and Natasha nodded in affirmation.

“So how come it’s not there anymore?”

"I don’t just know, Nat, it suddenly went missing."

Standing up, Natasha decided to look for it there too, just in case her friend skipped seeing it because she was in a rush. But she couldn’t find it, and that was how the two friends turned their room and other parts of the house into a mess, looking for the CV and other related documents that suddenly developed legs and decided to run away. Jane was antsy, and it grew worse as time flew by.

"What if he took it?" Natasha asked without warning.

"He?" Jane asked back, to have Nat nod.
