“Thank you.” Now it was my turn to reach out to her again, and this time I laced my fingers gently through hers. She could pull away easily if she wanted to, but she didn’t. “And your sympathy and understanding say a lot about you.”

She made a soft sound and blushed. “Thank you.”

“How is this insanity so cute?” Gaylen’s grumbles had Tabitha barely holding back a laugh.

We’d dated women who’d just heard the tone without taking in the words, but it seemed like Tabitha was the exact opposite. She didn’t give any indication that his tone upset her but she loved that he’d called us cute.

Leaning closer, she dropped her voice lower. “Grumpy Poppy is back.”

Mirroring her position, I nodded. “He was worried the date would go badly and I might’ve been making him nuts theorizing about what would happen.”

Delight and something sweeter flashed over her face, too quickly for me to identify what she was thinking. She settled on a pleased smile as she stroked her fingers against mine, but Gaylen got a curious look from her. “Maybe we should find something fun to make Poppy happy too?”

I couldn’t tell what she had in mind.

It technically could’ve been something sexual but I didn’t think so. Her look wasn’t flirty even if there was a teasing excitement in her voice. Gaylen must’ve been thinking something similar because he kept his response fairly neutral. “What did you have in mind? Fair warning, it’ll take something special.”

She met his challenge, nearly wiggling in her seat she was so excited. “Have you started the new serial killer series yet? The first six episodes released this morning.”

Well, that had gone in an unexpected direction.

Gaylen’s laughter said he approved and as he relaxed back in his chair, he smiled at the curious sub. “How about we check out the first couple of episodes after dinner? If you feel safe coming back to our house?”

She nodded, bouncing in her seat. “Yes. I have to tell Ender just in case he needs to find my body later but he’ll say yes.”

It was definitely turning out to be the most interesting first date we’d ever had, but so far, it was also turning out to be the best first date we’d ever had.

I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen next—hopefully something less stressful than serial killers.

Chapter 6

Tabitha

“It was so good.” Bouncing back and forth between Harper and Gaylen, I couldn’t hold back my excitement. Finally landing on Gaylen because Daddy Harper was laughing too much, I gave the grumpy Dom a big smile. “I told you it would be even better than the first episode.”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “How did you know that, though? I thought you hadn’t watched it either.”

Had I said that?

A distraction was clearly in order.

Climbing onto his lap from where I’d been nestled between them on the couch, I gave Gaylen wide eyes and kissed his cheek. “I liked watching the shows with you, Sir.”

Oh, he really did like that.

Ender had said I couldn’t do any big scenes tonight because he said letting someone tie me up on the first date was stupid, but he hadn’t said anything about small ones. The fact that he hadn’t spelled that part out very clearly said he was giving me permission to at least do something fun.

And I liked making both these men happy.

It made me all wiggly inside when Daddy smiled and I loved it when Gaylen’s eyes would twinkle. Yep, we could play just a bit without breaking the rules… because the rules hadn’t been clear at all.

Wiggling just enough to be certain he’d get hard, I made sure to look very innocent still as I kissed his cheek again. “This has been the best first date so far, Sir.”

Glancing over at Harper as Gaylen gave me a stern look that said he was trying to decide if I was being deliberately naughty, I gave Daddy a smile too. “And Daddy.”

As Harper gave me a sweet smile that made it clear he didn’t know I was being naughty, he reached over to pet my head. Gaylen must’ve decided I hadn’t been too naughty because he kissed my cheek and his hand started stroking over my back.

That definitely said a tiny scene was a good idea, so I curled into him and rested my head on his shoulder. “It was a wonderful dinner and lots of fun talking and I really liked cuddling up with you and Daddy.”
