Max chuckles from beside me. I reach over and smack his bare chest. He grabs my hand and kisses my palm. I glare at him but he keeps on smiling at me. He’s so handsome that I find myself smiling bigger. Everything is perfect in this moment. I want to stay in it forever.

“Still here.”

Oh crap. I look back to my phone. “Sorry!”

“You said that already.” She shakes her head at me. “Gave it up on the first night. You little slut.” She smirks, teasing me. My cheeks are on fire at her words. I’m going to murder her when I see her.

“He can hear you,” I whisper. Even though me whispering also defeats the purpose because he can hear that too. This time when Max laughs he has the decency to try to hold it in but the shaking bed gives him away. He’s going to get it.

“I’m just making sure he didn’t kill you.” She shrugs.

“I’m fine,” I reassure her. I am way more than fine. I’m happy. “Unless death by orgasm is a thing?”

She looks as though she’s thinking this over. “Not that I would know,” she mumbles a second later. I want to tell her if you could die from them then I’d be six feet under by now. So, no you can’t die from them. Unless this is heaven. My eyes flick to Max.

“Anywho, what's your plan for today? Was this a one-night stand? Will you be home for us to do some breakfast?” It’s Thursday. Amelia and I have the same work schedule, both being off on Thursdays. Everyone gets Sunday off. I’m sure Max has to get to work.

“I told her last night when we talked that it wasn’t a one-night stand.” He sits up, nuzzling my neck. “We’ll be spending all day together. Won’t we, angel?”

“Gross.” Amelia makes gagging sounds while I turn thirteen shades of red.

“Max.” I give him a nudge to back up at the same time I tilt my head so he can have more room if he needs it. I can feel him smile against my skin before he places one more kiss on my neck and pulls away. My eyes follow him as he gets out of bed. He strolls toward the bathroom in all of his naked glory. I lick my lips at the same time Max turns around. His eyes focus on my mouth and I see the lust in them.

“You’ll be my breakfast and then I’ll take you to breakfast,” he throws over his shoulder.

“Max!” I shout again. He only laughs harder and this time I can’t smack him.

“You look so happy.”

I look back to Amelia. How do I keep forgetting I’m on the phone? I’m freaking holding the thing up. It’s a good thing I have the sense to keep it turned toward me. Even though I love Amelia, there is no way I want her seeing Max naked.

“I am.” Between my legs isn’t the only thing that’s aching. My face isn’t far behind it from smiling so much.

“Good, you deserve it.”

“Thanks.” I hope that one day she will find someone that makes her truly happy. She jokes that she’s looking for her sugar daddy. I don’t believe her. She’s looking for love. She does well on her own and she’s more than capable of taking care of herself but I can tell she’s lonely. She puts on a good front. I’m not going to call her on it. For now at least.

“He better not hurt you. I know I’d survive in prison but the food is terrible from what I’ve been told.”

I laugh. “I’m sure you’d do wonderful on the inside. You’d probably have your own crew and everything.”

“I love you. Have a good day and text me all the details. I’m going to call Kim and tell her that maybe we should open a matchmaking company because clearly we nailed it. Kim said that she could never get that man to go on a date with anyone. Look at him now. All in love.” Amelia looks like she’s doing a victory dance.

“He didn't say he loves me.” My heart races at the thought. It is too soon for that. That would be crazy. Still, there’s this feeling I have inside me. I don’t have a name for it. Could this be love? I know how to love. I love Amelia. I love my parents even if they aren't the best people, I still love them in some capacity. This thing with Max feels as though it’s something more.

“I talked to that man last night while you were passed out. I think he’s in love.” I sit up a little straighter, making sure the sheets are covering my breasts. Not that she hasn’t seen them before.

“What did he say?” I poke.

“Guess you’ll have to come over and ask me. You dish your details and I’ll dish mine.” She wiggles her eyebrows.

‘Fine! You win. I’ll stop by.”

“Laters.” She does a kiss face. I do one back.

“Love you. See you soon.”

“Love you too.” We hang up as I fall back onto the bed thinking that I could use a few more hours of sleep. It’s still early. I hear the shower going, which pulls all thoughts of sleep from my mind as I make my way to the bathroom to join Max.
