“Your sister is calling.” I hold her phone out for her.
“Oh.” She takes it from my hand. It stops vibrating but starts again. “Crap. It’s not like me to not check in.” She answers the call. “Hey.”
She holds the phone to her ear. “What day is today?” She looks at the clock as if it has the date on it.
“Saturday,” I tell her, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear before I head over to turn the coffee maker on to make her a cup.
“What!” she shouts. I jerk around to see what’s wrong. Her mouth hangs open in shock.
“What? Is everything okay?” I rush over to her. I can hear her sister laughing through the phone so it can’t be that bad. I take the phone from her, putting it on speaker.
“I can’t believe you forgot.” Her sister keeps on laughing.
“I forgot. I’m so sorry. I’m a horrible sister.” Her shoulders drop.
“What did she forget? I’m sure it’s my fault.” I try and cover for my wife, wanting to take the blame for her. The corner of her lips twitch up in a smile.
“My wedding.” Madison laughs more.
“I’m so sorry,” Mackenzie says again. The look on her face is fucking killing me.
“Don’t be sorry! I love that you got so wrapped up in something that was for yourself. It’s about time that someone made you forget about the rest of the world.” Madison sounds so happy about this. It makes me smile, too, that I am the one that made her forget about everything else. Madison is right. It is good for her. “I think I like this Wolf guy. Even if he married my sister without me seeing it.”
“Sorry.”
“You don’t sound sorry.” She laughs more into the phone.
Mackenzie smiles. “I’ll be there soon,” she says, taking the phone from me.
“Take your time. You got a dicking and forgot everything.” Madison can’t stop laughing.
“Madison!” Mackenzie gasps at the phone.
“You don’t talk about other men’s dicks,” I hear Colt say in the background before Madison lets out a scream of surprise.
“Put me down. I just did my hair!”
“I’ll put you down.” I end the call before we find out where Colt is putting his soon to be wife down.
“I forgot.” I lift Mackenzie off her feet, setting her down onto the counter. I spread her thighs, making room for myself.
“You’ll make it to the wedding. I didn't think it was until later this afternoon or I would have scheduled everything to come earlier.” She drops her head back to look up at me, putting her hands on my chest. “I have movers coming in an hour with your stuff. Is whatever you’re wearing at your place? They are bringing everything.” Except a few things I told them they better not fucking touch.
“It’s at Colt’s. Everything is. I have a planner handling it all.” Her hands slip up my bare chest to go around my neck. “You really are going to take care of me, aren't you?”
I see the understanding on her face. She’s going to let me, too. And trust that I can and will do exactly that. I’ve never wanted to take care of another person before. The need to do it for her is overwhelming. If that's all I did for the rest of my life, I’d live a very happy life.
“I’ll do anything for you, wife.” I lift her up, heading toward the shower. I know she wanted to make breakfast but we’ll have all the time in the world for that. I’ll have someone grab something for her to eat on the drive over to her sister’s. Right now, I am going to take care of my wife and make sure I get her to where she needs to be.
“I’ll do anything for you, too, Victor. You know that?” she asks. “You make me feel alive and look at life differently. I’ve been missing so much but now I have you to show me all of it.”
“It would be my pleasure to show you anything you like.” I flip on the shower, stepping in with her, not caring that we both have clothes on. I peel them off of us after I kiss my wife.
“You made me forget and we haven't used anything when we made love.”
“You didn't forget. You got off on it.”
Her cheeks pinken. She smiles through her blush. “You really do know me.” She shakes her head. “Then you know what I want.” I do. I pin my wife to the shower wall, giving her what she wants and what I need. I’ll always need her; she’s my reason for breathing.
