“The brothers.”

“Ah, of course.” She reaches out and scratches my beard lightly. “It’s the facial hair.”

The touch sends a bolt of awareness zipping across my skin. I place my hand over hers and guide her fingers to my mouth, brushing a light kiss over her fingertips. “I thought that’s what made me the big bad wolf.”

She shivers and slowly shakes her head. “No, it’s the bite that makes the wolf.”

“Oh, yeah, that’s right. All the better to eat you with.” I know exactly how that sounds and she picks up on it right away.

“Would you like to come back to my place?” she asks. “I happen to be a real fan of nice hipsters who are also fabulous kissers.”

“I haven’t kissed you yet,” I say, my face already drifting closer to hers.

“But you’re about to,” she whispers. “And it’s going to be fan-fucking-tastic.”

She grips my shirt, closing the last of the distance between us. The moment her soft lips press against mine and her tongue sweeps into my mouth, I know this is going to be a night I’ll never forget.

And if I’m lucky, maybe we’ll have more than a night.

Long distance relationships aren’t usually my thing, but Kay is intriguing. She’s a unique mixture of fun, feisty, and kind, and that isn’t easy to find. Believe me, I’ve been looking. I might only be twenty-eight, but I’m ready to settle down. Especially now that my brothers are all coupled up and wallowing in domestic bliss.

I want the same. I want to wake up with my best friend every morning and pull her hair while I make her come every night.

But for now, I’ll settle for exploring every inch of Kay’s delectable body.

I discreetly fist my fingers in the hair at the base of her neck and give a little tug. The soft moan the vibrates my lips in response is all the proof I need that we’re going to be a sexual match made in heaven.

She pulls back, her cheeks flushed. “On second thought, maybe I don’t need another beer. I bet Leonard and Nevil wouldn’t mind a parting draft though if you’re trying to spread goodwill.”

“I bet they wouldn’t, either.” I squeeze her hip through her perfectly fitted ski pants.

“The food here isn’t bad for a pub, but I’m sure we can find something for supper at my place if we look hard enough.”

I’m not sure if she’s talking about an actual meal or having each other for dinner, but either way, I’m all in.

“Sounds perfect. I’ll close out my tab and be back in a second.”

“I’ll go warm up my car and meet you outside.” She drags her fingertips lightly down my chest as she slides out of the booth. Even that breezy touch is nearly enough to make me embarrass myself. These wolf pants are tight—too tight for a hard-on in public. “I’ll be out front, the blue Volvo with the smartass bumper stickers all over the back.”

I growl beneath my breath. “Just when I thought you couldn’t get hotter, you go and pull out a bumper sticker collection. I love a smartass bumper sticker.”

She tilts her head to one side. “I thought you might. You seem like a…bumper enthusiast.”

“If that’s you calling me out for staring at your ass, I plead guilty,” I say, deciding honesty is the best policy. “I can’t help myself. You have the most beautiful bumper I’ve ever seen.”

She bites her bottom lip as a delighted smile spreads across her face. “Thank you. I have to say I’m a huge fan of your lips. And your hands aren’t bad, either.”

Itching to show her just how good my hands can be, I take the empty beer glasses to the bar and tell the bartender, “I’d like two more drafts for my friends and then close it out, please.” I turn back to Kay, who’s stopped beside me. “I’ll be out to meet you a minute or two.”

“Make it as quick as you can,” she says, her eyes dancing as she backs toward the door. “And I’ll give you a treat when we get to my place.”

I nod. “Done.”

I have no idea what sort of “treat” she has in mind, but if it requires that I sit and give her a paw, like a good wolf, I will. I want anything and everything Kay has to offer.

“Watch it,” Leonard says as I bump into his armchair while tucking my wallet back into my pants.

“Sorry about that. And sorry about the penguins,” I say as I straighten, clapping my hands together. “The bartender is bringing you both another Pabst on me. You two have a great night.”
