The only question was how and when.

The other agent had been correct though, the irritating male agent.

Jim? James?

It didn’t matter. Whoever he was—he was right about one thing.

There had to be something that could be worked out to resolve the situation.

The lead agent who’d pulled her weapon on Dmitri so foolishly… hadalsobeen correct.

A treatywasa treaty.

Agents weresupposedto be untouchable.

But to Dimitri? Those were mere details, considerations.

Theyweren’tgoing to stop him from getting what he wanted.

And he knew as soon as he’d walked up to her, to that luscious agent whose suit couldn’t quite hide the allure of her curves.

She was what he was going to have.

Oh yes.

Eventually, Ryan and the guards seemed to have convinced Jim, The Annoying Agent, to vacate the hall.

Which allowed them some privacy to finally be able to talk.

“What do you think, Knox?” Dmitri glanced toward the door where his prize and her agent partner had retreated through. “Should we do it? Should we take her no matter what?

Knox gave him a weary lift of a dark eyebrow. “I don’t know, sir. It doesn’t feel right. It’s complicated, and it’ll get a lotmorecomplicated if we take her.”

Yet, they could. The certainty of that was confirmed by the very fact that Knox didn’t speak the words.

Knox met his gaze. “But the question is—just because we could, does that mean that we should?” He grimaced, shaking his head. “I messed that up. What I mean is—we gotta be sure, don’t we? Is shereallythe one?”

Dmitri rubbed a hand over his mouth, pausing for a moment. “I felt it. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. If she’snotthe one… then there’s something very wrong with me.”

“I don’t think that’s the case,” Knox said, but the crease in his friend’s brow said it was a lot more complicated than that.

This is real. She’s real.

The Drawing—that was tangible enough, the power of it much too compelling to allow him to write it off as mere imagination.

“She’smine, Knox. And I’m going to have her.”

Knox sat back in his chair, gripping both of his thighs. “Then I think it’s time we make a phone call. There… could be a way. And it might not even be messy.”

Dmitri grinned at his lieutenant. “Then make it happen. I think we found our girl.” He looked over at the trembling, blushing captive still being evaluated by the other alphas. “And it’snotthat female standing up there on the stage.”

CHAPTER6

Stacy

The water sloshed over the edge of the tub as she slipped into the searing hot bath, the steam rising all around her.

Being enveloped in wet heat would have normally been soothing. Now? It made things tolerable, at best, though it did distract her from her overly sensitive skin and her strangely heightened senses.
