She did it again, digging her heels in so she was harder to drag along the corridor.

Which one of those things had tipped him over the edge, she wasn’t sure. But the next thing she knew, he’d stooped, jammed his shoulder into her belly, and she was in the air, over his bare shoulder and staring at his butt.

She wailed in rage and kicked and searched for something to hold on to.

“Stop your hysterics,” he said, slapping his hand over her ass. “It’s bad behavior.”

“Hey, mate, what you doing?” A gruff new voice.

“Stay out of this?” Hugh came to a stop.

Clarice spotted a pair of neon-yellow trainers and hairy calves.

“Not staying out of it. You appear to be abducting this woman.”

“She’s my sister.”

“Oh, really?”

“Put me down, Hugh!” Clarice kicked again. “Or I swear I’ll—”

“Shut it, Clarice.” His grip on her tightened.

“This guy really your brother?”

She sensed the man to her right ducking to try and see her face.

“Well, technically…I mean…”

Hugh squeezed her ass, his fingertips digging in.

“Yes, yes, he is. He’s my brother.”

“Not abducting you?”

She huffed in frustration and fought for breath. It wasn’t easy being upside down, her belly pressing on his hard body. “No, but I want to go. I want to go out.”

“She wants to go out on the town tonight on her own, on the pull, and I don’t know about you,” Hugh said, “but it’s not safe out there. Would you want your little sister strutting her stuff in central London in a miniskirt?”

The guy chuckled. “I have two baby sisters, and no, I wouldn’t. Good luck making her see reason, though, you’ve got a wild one there.”

And then he was gone, the elevator doors closing with a ping.

“That was fucking embarrassing,” Hugh said, marching past the plant and making her bounce on his shoulder. “Getting accused of abduction. You’ll be sorry you did that to me.” His tone was ominous and sent a shiver of anxiety through her.

“Put me down! Let me go or I’ll…”

“You’ll what?”

“I…I…”

A door slammed, rattling the very walls of the building.

They were in the apartment now, but still he didn’t put her feet back on the floor. He walked into the living area, tossing her bag to one side yet again, then sat on the sofa.

Air huffed from her lungs, and her head swam. Hugh moved her around like she was nothing more than a doll. And the next thing she knew, she was over his lap, her hair trailing on the floor and her ass the highest part of her body.

Oh shit.
