“Panty Charades,” he said.
Behind me, Jun spewed soda onto Burian.
He wanted to talk about Panty Charades? That had been so four hours ago. “You did bid me entertain you, Alpha.”
“What!” Jun squawked.
Sterling’s expression darkened very slightly. “Winter, I was in the middle of a meeting.”
“Which you found boring and asked I amuse you. So I offered you a game of Panty Charades.” I had my phone in hand and waved it at him. There was evidence. Lots of evidence.
“Which I told you we’d have to play later.”
“No, you told me the meeting just got interesting, which was a lie. Point deduction for lying.”
“You told me you had no panties on, which is a cheap shot, not a point deduction.”
“You tapped out. In the first round too.” I sighed dramatically.
More soda getting spewed behind me and Burian making choking noises along with Jun.
“I did not tap out. You were disqualified. Groin shots are illegal.”
“Gross!” Jun squawked.
Burian wheezed.
“Hey, dinner is soon,” Jun demanded. “Some of us don’t want to lose their appetites.”
“Mistletoe.” I wagged a finger at all of them. “Mistletoe. Be careful the powers you invoke during Solstice season.”
Sterling pivoted on his heel and sauntered away. That blue suit was tailored to within an inch of its life, and it was a lovely view.
I slunk down the hallway after him and took up a place on our bed as he undressed. He tossed his suit coat next to me. I picked it up and fished his phone out of the breast pocket. “You aren’t really mad about this afternoon.”
He came over and looped his tie behind my neck. The silk sent my skin alight. He bent, twisting the ends of the tie around his fist, over and over again, pulling me to him, his pale eyes level with mine. “Now that I am home, we can skip the game and you can just show me.”
I felt the raw strength of his hand holding that silk tie, the press of the fabric into my neck as he twisted another loop around his fist, threatening my throat.
“Tell me about Maya,” he murmured.
“You dirty wolf.” I laughed.
His pale eyes smoldered, amusement rose off his skin and mingled with desire. He unclenched his fingers. The tie unraveled and fell between my breasts. He walked away as if it had been nothing at all while my heart beat fast, and my breathing came shallow.
But men could not so easily hide everything. His revenge was not complete. And those pants really didn’t hide anything.
I pulled the tie around my neck and dropped it to the floor.
Sterling unbuttoned the top three buttons of his shirt and pulled it over his head.
“Can you shift like that?” I inquired both sweetly and curiously.
“It is a very bad idea.”
“Oh? How bad an idea? What happens?”
“Terrible things. Tell me about Maya.”
