“Lucky I have you to help me out.”
If I could, I’d reach over and hit him, but I hate driving at night so I’m not taking my hands off the wheel.
“You can clean yourself up.”
He turns to me. “Come on, Bon. You’re not that angry, surely?”
“You know I hate driving at night. I’m practically blind.”
“No you’re not, and I’m sorry, you’re the only person I could call.”
“You couldn’t have called Mary?”
He grins. “Macy.”
I can’t help the smile that stretches across my face. “Marie?”
Reaching over, Leo puts a hand on my shoulder and squeezes. “Where would I be without you? Can I stay at your place tonight? I don’t have a first-aid kit.”
I roll my eyes. “How the hell do you manage to keep yourself alive?”
“I have absolutely no idea.”
I laugh, shaking my head. “You’ll be the death of me. I’ll clean you up, but be warned, I’m not going to be gentle.”
“I would expect no less.”
I can’t be mad at him.
Lord knows I try.
He’s under my skin.
He’s my best friend.
