Mr. Sheldon smiled as he caught the tail end of the conversation. As everyone stood, Chelsea made her way to me. “Your bruh is out of line for that shit he pulled a minute ago.”
“Naw. That judge was out of line for all that damn talking.”
She laughed as we headed back to the couple to congratulate them. Once we did, we walked to my SUV to head to the reception hall. After helping Chelsea inside and going to the driver’s side, my phone rang. It was Fawn.
“What’s up, sis?”
“Me and Amiko planning something at your house. I ended up flying out with Law. Make sure my girl comes too.”
“Fawn, where are the boys?”
“They are with Law’s parents. You worried about the wrong thing though, nigga. Where my girl?”
“Hey, Fawn! I’m here, boo.”
“Hey, Chelsea! See, Jungle, I knew yo’ ass wasn’t a buster. Tell me y’all a couple. I know I just put you on the spot, but yo’ ass need to be in the hotseat. My girl been waiting on you to make a move.”
“Fawn Elaine Patterson Gutierrez! Shut yo’ ass up, man. Chelsea is my woman. We made it official Monday evening. Now cool out! And what the fuck y’all planning atmyhouse?”
“You’ll see when you get here tomorrow. Bye, nigga. See you tomorrow, Chelsea!”
C-Mar giggled and said, “See you, sis!”
Fawn ended the call, and I could only shake my head. I loved her spoiled ass, and I was grateful that she loved the love of my life. Now, if we could get a handle on all this bullshit, things would be smooth sailing.
CHAPTER16
CHELSEA
Watching Shy and Dylan shimmy was sexy as hell. I felt like they had me in a trance. Dylan was already sexy as hell. It was something about a chocolate man that had me all mesmerized and shit. Don’t let their asses have a beard. I was done. Jungle was chocolate, but he wasn’t as dark as my brother. I didn’t know where Dylan had gotten his dark complexion from, but it was so sexy.
Jungle sat next to me and said, “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were fiending over another man… a married one at that.”
“Fiending isn’t the proper word. I only fiend over you. I’m admiring.”
“You better talk that shit then. I can give you something right quick to calm that junky itch you got going on.”
I closed my eyes and slowly shook my head. It wasn’t even what he said that had me doing that. It was the fact that I was considering it. As Jungle chuckled, the music changed, and those Q-Dawgs hit the floor. There were quite a few of them… five to be exact. When they started barking, Dylan’s daughter ran to them, and they put her in the middle as she mimicked their moves and barked. She was the puppy of the bunch. It was entirely too cute.
She left the floor and went to Riley, pulling her to the floor. I glanced at Ali as he smiled, watching his lady. They made a beautiful couple. She seemed to be so genuine, and she and Whitney had gotten really close, along with Lexi. Whitney said Kaysyn hadn’t been coming around because of what was going on with me. In my opinion, that was her fucking conscience keeping her away, because it surely didn’t keep her brothers away. They were over there, stepping and barking.
“They do this shit at every gathering. I swear.”
I looked up to see that Seneca had shown up. Jungle could feel my tension, so he pulled me closer to him. After kissing my ear, he said, “He don’t get to steal your peace. Okay? Justice will be served next week. You believe that?”
“Yes.”
“Good.”
I turned my attention to the floor to see Alexz and Skyler on the floor, stepping. I was told they were AKAs. They both wore some combination of pink and green. While I didn’t go to college, I watched plenty of YouTube videos. I’d always wanted to pledge. AKAs and Deltas had caught my attention, but I would have been happy with any sorority that I felt a sense of sisterhood with. Whitney had told me that all of them were represented within the family. Joyy was a Zeta, and Kaysyn had pledged with Sigma Gamma Rho. There were only three frats represented though. Maybe eventually the other two would present themselves.
Shavozz’s oldest son was in college, and the word was that he would be pledging. I wasn’t sure which frat though. Just when I thought it was going to be over, Isaish and Joyy got up and did a lil something. They were a beautiful couple. I could tell just how in love they were. Once they were done, the DJ, Thad Moore, started playing “Where The Real” by Z-Ro. I slightly rolled my eyes. Jungle wore this shit out. Any Houston music was worn the hell out.
“Is this what everyone around here plays? Y’all don’t know any music outside of Houston artists?” I asked.
Jungle frowned hard. “First of all, don’t get caught up and get fucked up. The DJ is my boy, so dead that shit. Secondly, that ain’t what yo’ lil ass was saying last night, Miss I’m so throwed in the game. Thirdly, you love Houston, because IamHouston. You weren’t complaining when H-Tine came dine and was running all through you last night either.”
He had me on hush real quick. I smirked at him. “A’ight, a’ight. Calm down, Houston. I didn’t realize y’all were so easily offended.”
