It was just about the hottest thing I could imagine.
I tugged one of the big fluffy towels off a rack and began patting myself dry.
I appraised myself in the mirror.
I looked better now than I had my entire life — not because of my weight or size (weight had always been a problem for me) but because I glowed with some deep, internal light that I couldn’t account for…
I supposed it must have been what mating often and hard gave you.
As I turned to wipe down my back and double took when I saw something at the base of my spine.
I thought I saw something there, something small and black.
A mole?
No. I’d never had a mole there.
It didn’t protrude like a mole and was instead flat.
I turned to peer closer at it—
Knock, knock, knock!
“Yelp!” I cried, almost jumping out of my skin.
Someone was at the door.
“Coming!” I said, hastily casting a look over my shoulder at the mark on my back that I knew hadn’t been there before.
I grabbed a robe and pulled it on, tying the cord around my waist tight.
I rolled my hair up in a towel forming a whipped-cream-like arrangement atop my head as I reached for the door.
Blor stood with a broad grin spread across his lips as he looked me over head to toe.
“Do you mind if I come in?” he asked.
“Sure.”
Maybe I should have felt uncomfortable with a relative stranger entering my room with my current state of undress… but I felt comfortable in his presence and knew, somehow, that he would never harm me.
I shut the door behind him. “How can I help?”
His eyes drifted down to the top of my bare chest and he unconsciously licked his lips.
I could seeexactlyhow I could help him.
I didn’t try to cover myself up and instead let a smile curl one corner of my lips.
His tongue poked at the corner of his mouth. “I, uh, wanted to check to make sure you’re okay.”
I shrugged. “Sure I’m okay. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I… don’t know,” he said.
He managed to yank his eyes from my exposed shoulders and fixed his eyes on mine.
They were purple-gold — exactly the same as Uhti’s… except there was a hint of mischievousness to them that Uhti didn’t possess.
