“Do you want to stay the night?” Lizzy asked.

Stay the night? I intended on stayingeverynight!

But one night could turn into many and so I diplomatically said:

“Yes. Please.”

Lizzy smiled. “Well, I’ve got plenty of rooms for you to stay in! I’m sure we can find one for you, right, Uhti?”

Uhti’s smile was tighter than a puckered ass and didn’t come anywhere near to touching his eyes. “Yes. Yes, of course.”

Lizzy said, “I’ll take you upstairs and find one for you—”

Before she even finished her sentence, I was imagining what I would do to her the moment I got her alone in a room, whenfuckfaceinterrupted with:

“That’s not necessary,” Uhti said. “The master of the house shouldn’t concern herself with such trivial matters. I’ll find him a room. You rest.”

Lizzy clapped her hands. “Excellent! Then let’s get washed up and come back down for dinner. What do you think?”

Uhti didn’t take his eyes from mine and I didn’t take mine from his.

“Sure,” I said, my eyes steady and unwavering. “Sounds great.”

My fury was a ragingball of molten lava hotter and harder even than the heart of a newborn star.

It was all I could do to keep my white-knuckled fists at my side and not lay into the creature opposite.

His appearance was the biggest shock of my life — and with the business I had done with James over the years and the sometimes… unusual ways with which he conducted business, that was saying something.

I hadn’t learned much about Blor during the time I’d spent with Lizzy.

I had only known her a short time and all we had really discussed was her inheritance, her father, and the estate.

In truth, I never thought I was going to have to lay eyes on the male she’d last laid with at the Seeding Facility.

And yet, here he was.

Seeing Lizzy run to him had been like a stake in my heart, and then seeing him with his hands on her so easily, socomfortably— and the fact she hadwelcomedit! — only made my anger all the more palpable.

I drew the line when I saw how close their lips came to touching and managed to prevent her from showing him to a room — as there wasnodoubt in my mind what they would get up to if left to their own devices.

I felt sick to my stomach at the thought of them together and I would do everything in my power to ensure it didn’t happen again.

Not under this roof.

Not while I was here.

He kissed Lizzy on her hand in what was the traditional — if a little old-fashioned — human manner.

Not that I thought Blor knew much about human culture.

Lizzy waved us off and peeled down a separate hallway in the opposite direction to that of Lizzy’s chambers.

Blor’s grin froze when he laid eyes on me.
