Everyone laughed, even Kiera. “We’re talking aboutyou, babe. Besides, I’m just saying what you guys are all thinking.”
Audri protested by lifting a hand. “I’m not thinking that at all.”
“Neither am I,” Michelle said.
“Grayson is a hot guy, but I’m not attracted to him. But I know who is.” Kiera narrowed her eyes at me.
Curiosity sparked in me. “How do you know?”
“Anyone who witnessed the two of you debating at his birthday party knows.” Kiera picked a grape tomato from her salad and popped it into her mouth. “The way he got jealous of you and Arrow was quite cute.”
“He kept staring at you. I felt the heat rising in the room. The guys didn’t notice, but we did. We’re good at these things.” Michelle bit into her chicken wrap.
“I’d never seen Grayson like that,” Audri said. “You put the spark back in his eyes.”
“We knew something was up.” Kiera lifted a finger. “And we also knew you weren’t ready to make a move. So when I had to go on that work assignment, it was the perfect opportunity for the two of you to hash it out.” Her eyes glittered. “So, did you ‘hash’ it out in bed?”
Despite knowing they’d set me up, I couldn’t help the smile that stretched across my face. I was one of them. They’d accepted me into their group, and I became the recipient of this comradery I’d never experienced.
“We inducted you into the SSG group.” Michelle winked.
“What’s that?” I lifted an eyebrow. “Sounds interesting.”
“Super Spy Girls. It used to be SSG 003, but we dropped the digits since there are more of us now. You and Vivian are new members. Our spy group is growing.”
“What exactly does the group do?”
“Whatever we want,” Kiera blurted.
She told me about Audri’s mission of License to Kill and Michelle’s From Iceland With Love.
“You girls are really something. I can’t believe you set me up!” I loved these girls and wished I’d met them earlier. “What was my mission?”
“You need to name it,” Audri said. “We don’t know what happened at The Fortress that turned you into his girlfriend. Must have been something profound.”
Memories swirled in my head, and my cheeks heated, remembering all the decadent things he did to me. He was magnificent at possessing me from various angles.
“My mission is The Man with the Golden Angle.” I smirked, thinking about how I got the title.
Audri almost choked on her drink, laughing. “Oh, boy.”
Michelle fanned herself with her hand.
“I assume the mission was successful?” Kiera asked.
All eyes were on me. I’d never shared anything about my relationship with anyone, but there was something about these girls that made me want to share.
“It was . . .innovative.”
After we finished lunch, I looked at them, nerves churning in my stomach at the other reason for meeting up.
“What’s wrong?”
Michelle placed a hand on my shoulder.
“I have something to confess.” Below the table, I interlaced my fingers.
The girls exchanged a confused look.
