She turned, and the hints of gold in her eyes hypnotized me. At that moment, I didn’t care who else stood beside us or around us. I was in my own world with her.
“You know Fiona, don’t you?” she asked, flicking a glance at Fiona and her friends.
I loved that she could read me so well.
“I’ll tell you about that later.” My lips hovered around her ear, and the scent of her fragrance seduced me. “Pretend to be my girlfriend, okay?”
Michelle didn’t have a chance to reply.
“Royce! What are you doing here?” Fiona barged in, disrupting the moment.
CHAPTERSEVENTEEN
MICHELLE
I couldn’t believewhat I was seeing and hearing.
Royce just asked me to be his fake girlfriend. These things happened in books and movies, not in real life. And not to me. But the way Fiona scanned his entire body made my fingers itch to hurt her. I didn’t like the person I became when she was around.
A weird possessiveness surged in me. I’d never felt this sensation before and had no clue how to deal with it.
Royce tightened his arm around my waist, pulling me closer.
Fiona came up to us and stood in front of him, ignoring me. She ran a hand down his arm as though I weren’t there.
Don’t touch him.
He wasn’t mine to claim, and yet my brain believed he was.
“Fiona. How are you?” Royce asked casually.
“I’m wonderful.” She beamed, biting her red lips invitingly. “But I’m better now that I’ve seen you, handsome.” Lust filled her eyes. “What hotel are you staying at? Are you busy tonight? We should catch up. It’s been so long.”
Fiona didn’t know he had an apartment here. My heart twirled that I knew something she didn’t.
Royce shifted his body, turning towards me, which forced Fiona’s arm to drop from his.
He opened his mouth to say something, but I spoke first. “He’s busy tonight. We’ve got plans. Right, honey?” I turned to him and smiled.
Fiona stepped back, blinked, looked at him, and then at me.
“You’re kidding. You’re datingher?” She laughed.
I narrowed my eyes, wishing I had magical powers. She should know that when she said mean things to people, there were repercussions. A zap to her body would turn her into an ugly witch with warts on her face. A zap to her brain would turn her into a nice person.
“Of course,” Royce said, sliding his hand down from my waist to interlace his fingers with mine. “She’s beautiful, smart, and sexy. Just perfect for me.” He lowered his face to mine and kissed me.
My body jerked from the jolt of power upon his touch. Standing on my tiptoes, I kissed him back. Energy zapped me, and I felt electricity zipping through my body. At first, I kissed him to irritate Fiona, but then he cupped my face and coaxed my lips apart with his tongue. I couldn’t resist and parted for him. Heat wafted over me, and I lost myself in the kiss. I loved how his skillful tongue explored my mouth. I wanted more, so much more, that it shocked me.
A delicious heat bloomed in my chest, spreading down to my core. Was this kiss an act for Fiona? Or was he kissing me because he wanted to?
What was his relationship with Fiona? Was she his crazy ex-girlfriend? What a small world.
Placing a gentle hand on his chest, I broke the kiss and licked my lips. I yearned for his mouth again, but knew better. His curious eyes pierced mine with a seriousness I hadn’t seen before.
“I have the best girlfriend.” He ran a thumb over my lips.
“Well, I guess your taste level has declined over the years.” Fiona flicked her blonde hair.
