“I’ll see you soon.” My jaw tightened as I shuffled my schedule around to make tomorrow’s urgent flight.

MICHELLE

It wasfour in the afternoon in Iceland, which meant it was noon in Providence, Rhode Island. The four-hour difference wasn’t that bad compared to other places I’d visited.

How should I tell my friends about Royce? Maybe I imagined this attraction. Maybe Royce just wanted to treat me to dinner because we were friends. I decided talking about Fiona was safer.

Michelle:You guys up for a quick chat?

Audri:Of course! Lunch break for me. What’s happening in Iceland?

Kiera:Always have time for my girls. What’s up?

Michelle: Fiona Clark is part of my team. Ugh.

Audri: The one who badmouthed your blog to social media influencers?

Michelle:That one.

Kiera:Want me to send her fake designer lipsticks that will swell her lips & prevent her from talking forever?

Audri:You’re terrible, K. Love the idea, though. (lipstick emoji)

Michelle:Wish you both were here.

Kiera:Watch your back with that one. She got my friend at Dolce & Gabbana fired.

Michelle:Yeah, I don’t need the drama.

Audri:It’s so hard working with shitty people.

Audri had been harassed by her boss until Remi bought out the company. That poor girl had been through so much. She’d found her happiness now, and I was thrilled for her. She deserved it.

Kiera: AND she’s been with Sebastian since we ended our little whatever.

Michelle:What? You didn’t tell us.

Kiera:Not important. He wasn’t my bf. Have something to share when you’re back.

Audri:You can’t dangle ‘something’ and not expect us to inquire! Who is he?

Michelle:Right? Spill it.

Kiera:Ha! Nothing important. Lol. Any cute guys in Iceland? I met a Nordic model once. He was insanely hot.

Audri:Have you seen Royce yet?

What should I say? Several thoughts swirled in my head, but they all vanished as if I’d experienced a memory lapse.

Kiera:What happened?

Michelle: What do you mean? I didn’t even say anything.

Audri:EXACTLY. You took too long to reply. (smile emoji)

Kiera:You hooked up with Royce?
