Tasha looked at both of us like we had lost our minds. She couldn’t possibly understand why we were so happy about fights being open. In her words, ‘they were boring.’
“So anyway. Do you have a theme for your wedding? Oh, and what are your colors?” Tasha was waving her hands around like the colors would appear in the sky.
“Uh…no…” Fuck, why hadn’t I thought of that? I assumed it wouldn’t be like a real wedding. It even had a different name: Vow Exchange. This was terrible, I had so much to do and no time to do it.
“Don’t stress. I will be around to help with all of it.” She tapped away on her phone again.
“What are you doing here?” Ethan asked from behind me.
“Me?” Tasha pointed to herself. “I came to meet your new bride and help with the wedding. Your dad called and told me about it.”
“So my dad happens to call the woman I used to fuck? He used you to upset Ava.” Ethan’s voice was a steady roar.
Do not get jealous. You will not get jealous. Everyone has a past.“Did you come here to upset me? Or try and hook up with Ethan?”
“Oh no.” Tasha grabbed her chest. “I would never. I’m happy for Ethan. I don’t want to upset you, and I don’t want to fuck Ethan. Or any man ever again, for that matter. I’m sorry, I’ll go.” She stood.
I grabbed her hand. “No stay. I believe you. Plus, I need help with this wedding.”
Tasha appeared genuine. Ethan’s dad may have called her to cause problems, but I truly believed she came with good intentions. Besides, if she had nefarious intentions, she would have coffin-shaped nails and not rounded ones.
“Are you sure? I don’t want you to be uncomfortable. Especially in your house.” Tasha remained standing as if I was going to send her away at any second.
“Absolutely. Now sit. Let’s talk about colors.” I turned to Ethan. “Can we do it all? Like bridesmaids and flowers?”
“Whatever you want. I would even wear pink.” He pulled my hand from Tasha’s. I hadn’t realized I was still holding it. Ethan kissed my hand.
“Nope, I will be the only one with pink.” I pointed to my hair.
“That works too. Since you all seem to have a ton to talk about, I’m going to handle some business for Tristan while he is still away.” He shook his head. “He’s trying to acquire land to build a baseball stadium.”
“We will be fine.” I gave him my most innocent smile.
“Don’t let her out of your sight!” He pointed at Felix and Sandy. Then he waved to his dad to follow him and left.
I tried to suppress a grin. With Ethan busy, it would be a lot easier to sneak out and hit up one of those fights. My veins pulsed with the anticipation of being in the ring again.
Tasha excused herself to talk to Ethan’s dad for a moment. I don’t know what they were discussing, but Mr. Moore had a scowl on his face.
“We need to go to those fights,” I whispered.
“Then let’s go.” Felix went to stand.
I grabbed his hand. “Stop. We can’t just go. Ethan has been keeping a close eye on me since the blood in my room. He wouldn't be cool with me going to fight. At least not now.” When Brad was caught, I would make sure Ethan knew I would still fight.
“So what do we do?” Felix asked.
“Wait for the opportunity to sneak out.” I shrugged.
CHAPTER22
Ava (Day 4)
Tasha clicked awayon her phone. A few minutes later, a few of Tristan’s servants came into the backyard carrying a glass table and chairs. CeCe handed Tasha a pad of paper and a pen. Dottie joined us, and my mom stayed by the pool timing Joseph.
“CeCe, can you bring us a tray of sandwiches?” Tasha stroked CeCe’s hand. “Oh and please make sure one is a tomato and salami for Joseph.”
She had a certain finesse about her. Even CeCe blushed when she touched her hand. Tasha was lovely and sweet and seemed unaffected by her elite status. I could care less that she was once with Ethan. Yeah, I was a little jealous for a second. But now she was a new friend.
