Ch. 19 Kira and the distraction
Iwasn’t scared ofhim. Shit, his own grandsons had threatened me on multiple occasions. That wasn’t why I couldn’t breathe. No, it was fear for my men. I believed this man would take everything from them. I also believed he would kill me in front of them. That was something I didn’t want them to see. No matter what that man thought of me, I cared for my own life. Self preservation had kept me alive this long.
Without another word I headed to the bathroom. When no one was paying attention to me I would be gone. Derek grabbed me around the waist before I reached the door. I hadn’t realized how hard it was to be invisible with three boyfriends.
“Hey Babe.” Derek slid his hand into my pocket and grazed my skin.
“Oh, hi. Um, I gotta head to the bathroom.” I pulled away from him.
“You okay?” He searched my face.
“Yea. Could you grab Vickie for me?” I hugged him and slid my hand in his pocket grabbing his keys without him noticing. “I got um, female issues.”
Derek nodded and took off.
Vickie was in the bathroom with me within minutes. She pulled tampons and pads from her purse. A condom fell out as she was searching. The girl was always prepared.
“No, I’m good. I need help.” I paced.
“Oh Derek said female stuff. So I thought.” She put the products back in her purse. “So what’s up?”
“I have to sneak out of here.” I pulled up my dress to my knees and knotted it. “Not just the party. I mean the mansion.”
“Why? I thought.” Vickie wiped a tear from her cheek. “We have everything here. Don’t you love The Trips? I just.”
I grabbed Vickie’s shoulders and shook her. “Stop it. I’ll be back. I just have to do something. Please help. I need a distraction.”
Vickie batted away more tears. “Not unless you tell me what you're up to and I mean everything.”
“Okay, but you can’t tell anyone. Not even Miguel.” I paced.
She nodded.
“Their grandfather threatened to take everything from them and kill me unless I steal back the bag I stole in the first place. The person who paid me, Carlos Garcia will use the stuff against The Trips unless I get it back. Their Grandfather wants to ensure no one has anything against his grandsons. That’s the jist of it anyway.” I grabbed her bag and looked through it for any weapons.
She had a metal nail file which I placed in my bra. I also took a pen and put it in the elastic of my underwear. At least the holes in the pockets would make it easy to grab.
“Do you have to do this tonight?” she asked.
“Yes, now will you help?” I grabbed her hands. “I need a distraction.”
“Okay, I’ll do it.” She pulled me in for a hug. “You better be safe.”
Vickie left the bathroom. I waited for whatever distraction she was going to pull. Rubbing my hands together I thought of my next move. I wasn’t sure how I was going to break into the house and get the bag back without any intel. I didn’t know where he was hiding it or how to get it. I liked robbing people in the middle of the day, not at night. Mr. Cartright didn’t seem like a patient person. There would be no time to set up a proper heist.
“Help!” someone screamed.
Perfect. I slipped from the bathroom and down the hall. Everyone was at the party. The few servants that were in the hall were running toward the commotion. I didn’t know what she did, but it worked. No one paid attention to me.
I walked right out the front door. The security that was outside was running inside to help. I hopped in The Triplets black car and used the keys I took from Derek. Driving wasn’t my strong suit.
Swerving, I left the driveway and hit a few bushes along the way. After a few minutes I got a little better at it. Luckily not too many people drove in New Boston so the streets were empty. Anytime I saw a person walking I slowed down to a crawl so I wouldn’t swerve and hit them.
