So yea, a trial scared the crap outta me. I was guilty of stealing from the wealthiest family for miles, possibly even all the countries in the United States. What would they do to me? That must have been what Pat was talking about when he said he wasn’t worried about them. He was worried about their family. Oh man, what were they gonna do to me?

“If you’ll excuse me gentlemen. I need to feed our guest,” Pat said. That was followed by grunts.

Pat unlocked my cell and sauntered in with a tray filled with eggs and fruit. “I noticed you ate all the strawberries last time, so I brought more.”

“Thank you. It’s obvious they don’t want you feeding me, so why do you?” I sat up and plopped a strawberry in my mouth.

“We do want to feed you, but we also want you to talk!” Derek yelled. After what sounded like a scuffle, footsteps led away from us.

“Yes, at first they thought starving you out would do some good. That was until I explained that homeless people can go a long time without food. They are built from better stuff. Way stronger than any Rich or even Elite.” Pat grabbed a strawberry and gossiped like we were old friends.

“How would you know? I know you say you are homeless. But really you aren’t. You’re practically one of them. And don’t think I didn’t hear you telling them to get to know me. What kinda crap is that?” I didn’t care how much I liked him, he wasn’t getting off that easily.

“You know most of the staff here lives on the streets. What? You think I don’t talk to them. You think I don’t spend all of my free time bringing them food, blankets, clothes. Helping them get jobs.” This time his voice was sharp. I had pushed too far.

“I...uh. I didn’t know.” I shoved eggs in my mouth to stop myself from talking.

“Those men that you hate so much are the reason I am able to do that. They are trying to help. You need to give them back what you stole.” Pat stood and left the cell.

“It’s not that simple,” I muttered.

“Everything in life is that simple. You have a choice and right now Sweetie, you are making the wrong one.” Pat locked the gate. “It might do you some good to get to know people outside of your class.”

Damn. I sunk down into the metal bunk, no longer hungry. I got that he grew up in this mansion so his values were different. Yet, he spent time with real homeless people and still defended The Trips with everything he had.Could he be right? No, there was no way he could be.

He left the food tray. I stared at it. My stomach twisted and turned. I pushed it further away and curled up. I had never been locked up before. Every night I fell asleep in the open air. Not once did I look up and see a roof. It was eerie. I didn’t like it. The comfort of walls and a roof should have made this easier. Instead I was claustrophobic.

I wasn’t sure how much longer I would be able to handle staying in here. There had to be a way to escape. There had to be.

Two men came into my view carrying a large chair. They both looked beefy and wore that stupid uniform. When they got in front of my cell they dropped it down and turned to me.

“Please, help me.” I pulled at the chain and tried to make my voice quiver.

“Geez, they got a girl locked in here.” The bigger of the two turned to me. “Are you okay?”

“No. They...they kidnapped me.” I wrapped my arms around my chest. “Please, I don’t know what they will do to me.”

“Fuck. I can’t believe they would lock up some innocent girl.” He ran his hand down his face.

“Ha. There is nothing innocent about her, Jamal.” One of The Trips slapped him on the back. I would really have to learn which one of them was which.

“Oh. Derek, hi. It’s just. Well look at her.” Jamal pointed at me.

I batted my eyes and puckered out my bottom lip.

“I see her. She broke Aiden’s nose. So unless you want the same thing, I suggest staying away from her. I know she’s hard to resist with her hotness and all.” Derek flopped in the chair they brought down and pulled the lever for the recliner.

“Damn. Good for her. Um. Do you need anything else? Someone else is coming down with food and drinks for you.” Jamal cut his eyes at me.

Since the jig was up and he knew I wasn’t as innocent as he thought I shrugged and leaned back against the wall. He shook his head and walked away with the other servant. Now, I was left alone with Derek.

The vision of him with a woman sucking on him stayed with me. Everytime I looked over at him my cheeks burned. I tried to stay looking at the wall, floor, ceiling, anything but him. A chill ran through me, it seemed like it was constantly there. I wrapped my arms around my knees trying to warm up.

A little while later that same woman came sauntering down with a tray of sandwiches and french fries. She had a stand in her other hand that she propped open next to his recliner. She smiled at him as she set the tray on it. Instead of leaving she picked up a french fry and held it to his lips. Ugh, I wanted to look away, yet I couldn’t.

“Thanks Danny, I got this.” Derek took the french fry she was trying to feed him. It was the first time his voice didn’t have the hint of laughter with it. He appeared cold, disconnected. Just like Aiden.

“You sure? I could feed you something else.” Danny winked at him.
