“What?” I stood and took a step toward him. I could have easily overpowered him and gotten out of here. The Trips were stupid for leaving me alone with him.

Chains rattled. You have got to be kidding me!A single chain was wrapped around my ankle. I jumped toward Pat. I would have to take him down and get the fuck out of here.

Pat backed up against the bars. The chain tightened. I fell forward, on my face. My head was at Pat’s feet. They gave me just enough slack to get nowhere. I pulled at the chains. Nothing.

Blood dripped down my face. The fall smashed my nose. It wasn’t the first time I had a broken nose, but damn it hurt. I touched my nose, it was crooked. I would have to set it before it started to heal.

“Sweetie, I will be right back. I’ll get someone to look at that.” Pat shut the gate to my cell behind him and locked it.

Hopefully he would get someone in here that I could get my hands on. If I had a hostage, I could maybe use it as leverage. Maybe.

Two minutes later one of The Trips stood at the gate. He had on jeans and a t-shirt, but I wasn’t sure which one it was. Probably not Aiden. He seemed like he would only wear suits. Very businesslike.

“Kira, right?” The Trip unlocked the gate and stepped inside.

There was no way I would be able to take him as a hostage. So I ignored him and put my head between my knees allowing the blood to drip down. I didn’t care that it got all over their floor.

“Let me help you.” He placed his hand on my back.

I flinched, the pain in my back was worse than my nose. I pinched the brim of my nose, waiting for the blood to clot.

“You have to look at me so I can set it. You don’t want it to heal.” He placed his hand under my chin.

“Touch me again and you’ll need to set your own nose.” Oh yea, I had broken Aiden’s nose, this definitely wasn’t him. So which one was it, the one reading or the one that was fucking?

“I’m only trying to help. You don’t have to be so nasty.” He dropped his hand.

“She doesn’t want help, brother. She would rather bleed all over the floor. Kinda hot, actually.” Another of The Trips stepped into the cell.

There wasn’t enough space for me there. With them the place seemed to shrink even more. Oh great, the third triplet entered the cell. From the bandage and two black eyes, I knew it was Aiden. Good, served him right.

“Where is it?” Aiden grabbed my wrist and pulled me toward him.

I could smell the rage pouring off of him.

“Tell me now or you will pay!” He pressed his body against mine.

I leaned forward so the blood would drip on his shirt, which was way too close to me. “What are you gonna do? Lock me up? Too late!” I wiggled my ankle so the chain would rattle.

“Trust me, there are way more ways to punish you than just locking you up,” he whispered into my ear.

A chill ran down my spine. “Is that supposed to scare me?”

“No it’s the truth.” He pushed me away from him and I fell onto the metal bed.

“Let’s talk this out. No need to get all angry, Aiden.” The Triplet that came in second leaned against the wall.

“Derek, you do realize the repercussions of the missing, um, items, right?” the one who tried to fix my nose asked. Which meant he was Jason, the one reading.

“Yea, yea. You all worry too much.” Derek waved his hand in the air. “So, Hot Stuff, tell us, you got any family? Cause I’ll tell you living with brothers can be a pain sometimes. Ya know?”

“No. No family,” I stammered. Vickie was the only person I had. I didn’t remember my father and my mother died a few years ago.

Murdered. Not that anyone cared because she was just a homeless person. My stomach turned. She had left to go to work. She cleaned for a living. Rich people never liked cleaning up their own mess.

I waited for hours for her to return. Then days. I went out searching for her. After all, I was Kira the finder, I could find anything. I wished I wasn’t so talented. It took a lot of investigating. All clues led to an alley in the outskirts of town. No one went there. It was abandoned.

She was there. Lying on the ground. Her throat was slit. The blood had dried. She had stiffened. I did the best I could to give her a proper burial. Only Vickie and I were at her funeral. I never caught who killed her. It was the only thing I couldn’t find.
