Page 32 of Seducing Selena

Squeezing my eyes shut, I gripped the desk so hard the wood creaked. Four lives were worth the thousands of Omegas that were stolen and sold every year. They were. Butfuck,I didn’t want to be the hero right now. I wanted to burn it down. Burn everything fucking down to make the hurt and despair on my Omega’s face disappear.

And shewasmy Omega.

Body and soul.

There would never be anyone else for me. Not after the four days I’d spent steeped in her beauty and her scent. The brave and delicate trust she surrendered to us, even though she thought we were monsters.

“We should make an appearance,” he said. “We’ve been absent enough as it is.”

“Fine,” I said. Because if I was going to hell anyway, I might as well throw myself into the fucking flames.

I followed Nick out into the club, my body falling into years of muscle memory. An easy stride and adon’t fuck with meface that had people scrambling to get out of my way.

Until the man I wanted to see least in the world stepped into my path.

“And here I thought I was going to see a display of training from the best of the best. I’ve barely seen your shadows. Some people might think you’re ignoring more important things.”

His tone was casual, but the threat was there. He needed to see us take control, and he needed to see us train Selena. No part of me wanted to subject her to that.

Too bad what I wanted didn’t fucking matter.

“Not all training is suited to the public eye,” I said. “But we’ll be introducing her to public training tomorrow.”

“Is that so?”

“It is,” Nick said. “I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.”

“And how will you train her?”

I smirked. “Wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise. But this week you’ll see more than enough.”

“Good.” He lowered his voice. “Because it’s easy to take my money and merchandise elsewhere.”

“You asked for a show and you’ll get one,” I snapped. “The insinuation we wouldn’t honor our agreement? That can fuck off. We have a process, and you’ll see how it works. If you’re no longer interested, feel free to leave.”

Instinctively, I felt Nick tense, but he was good enough that he didn’t look at me in shock. Just stood with me, silently backing my play.

Christopher Delano wasn’t a man who responded to weakness and acquiescence. He wanted to watch us dominate and harm. Assuring him wasn’t going to do the trick.

A muscle ticked in his cheek, and he smirked. “Fair enough. I look forward to your… display.”

He walked past me, just barely missing knocking into my shoulder, and disappeared into the depths of the club. Delano knew that none of the paying patrons were to be touched. The second he did the deal was off, because if we didn’t have a place to conduct business, it affected his. That was one boundary I knew he wouldn’t cross, thankfully.

“Fucking risky, Seb,” Nick said under his breath.

“Strength with strength,” I said. “It’s the only way we’re going to get through this.”

He nodded. “Yeah. And now we have to bring her down here.”

“We were going to have to do that anyway.” I sighed and fought the instinct to hang my head. “Just promise me this is worth it.”

“It is,” Nick said.

But as I walked away, I heard him speak again to himself.

“It has to be.”
