You are there, I am here, we have a messy past, but that sense of peace was breathtaking… and I am really glad we took that walk.

I watch that video sometimes, just so I can hear and see you playing with Caleb. I hope you don’t mind that I shared it with Mallory. I think she understands that we are talking. It’s like our circles are interconnected somehow – but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing, unless we make it like that.

Does that make sense?

I know I’m probably crazy for understanding something that would make others reject and run from, but everyone makes mistakes… and while a one night stand resulting in pregnancy is a mistake? Caleb is a miraculous joy, so thank you again for including me on your email to him/Mallory.

Let’s see… the normal stuff now…

I had some leftover broccoli and baked garlic chicken for lunch – and stunk up the entire breakroom microwaving it. Broccoli is bad enough, but garlic chicken? What was I thinking?

There is Amish bread starter on the counter at home bubbling and fermenting – and today is the day I get to add the peaches. You add a little at a time, give it a stir, let it sit and get funky (I must like smells a lot)… and then when it comes time to bake it?

It makes an incredibly moist, sweet bread. Caleb loves it and I do, too. I always send Killian some – and will send you a loaf as well.

I didn’t say anything about Alex before, because there’s not much to talk about. We are taking things slow and beginning as friends.

Yes, I met him several years ago and had no idea who he was. I’m glad to hear he seems to be a decent person, because I really like him (and don’t you say a word!)

You always have a place to stay here – and you know it!

Caleb and Mallory are both occupying the two once-empty bedrooms – but I will find a spot for you, just come visit and give me a head’s up.

Speaking of things that we need to keep quiet between each other… talking about relationships, things we never dreamed about discussing, and touching on approval or denials of people in our world?

Mallory would utterly kill me if she knew I said something to you – but if you come visit? Try to stay away from her. She’s got a terrible crush on you and always has. I never said anything before because I cannot see you two together and frankly, after some of the stunts she’s pulled? I’m not sure how I would react if I caught her with you… she’s like a cousin.

My friend needs to find someone, find a way to be happy, because she deserves it – but not with my brother. She’s too aggressive and strong – and needs someone who can knock her off-kilter… and you?

Killian, you need someone gentle, caring, and kind.

I hope I’m not meddling or intruding – but I also look out for you as much as you look out for me. Come visit, I’m serious. I would love to see you.
