“What if you hate it?”

I shot him a skeptical look. “Between Katherine and Harmony? There’s no chance I’ll hate it.”

He stepped forward, sliding his arms around my waist. “Well, I’ll like it either way. I like this one. You could just wear this.”

“One, I would not deprive Katherine the opportunity to be in charge. Two, this is just a fun dress. Not wedding material anyway.”

“Whatever you wear is wedding material.”

Then he kissed me, so I had no opportunity to respond. My brain sputtered at those words, short-circuiting as I tried to process them. And for some reason … I wasn’t even upset to hear them. In fact, something shifted in my stomach again, almost like pleasure. Did I want Gavin King to think I was marriage material?

“If we didn’t have somewhere to be,” Gavin said with a grin when he pulled back.

“Do we have somewhere to be?”

He laughed. “Unfortunately. Come on. I got a text from Trey that they left a car for me downstairs.”

I pouted but relented when he pulled me toward the door.

We took the elevator downstairs and out into the Texas heat. I was already fanning myself as we stepped outside to find a black lifted truck waiting for us. Gavin shook his head.

“Of course he did,” he grumbled under his breath.

“Please tell me that he left you a hat too.”

Gavin popped open the front door, and to my delight, a cowboy hat was waiting for him. “Fuck.”

“Put it on. Put it on!” I cheered.

“You’re serious? You want to see me in this thing?”

“Hey, I’m hot for cowboy.” I winked. “Plus, I have to take pics to send to all of our friends.”

“No fucking chance,” he said, but he put the hat on as soon as we climbed inside.

I did take a picture of him in the hat and then immediately made it my contact picture for him. “There.” I showed him what I’d done. “Now, a cowboy will show up every time you text or call me.”

Gavin looked at the picture and sighed. “Fine. You win.”

“I like winning.”

“Don’t I know it.” His signature smirk returned. “Maybe if you’re lucky, I’ll let you see me in just the hat.”

I nearly choked. The visual he’d delivered was unparalleled. I’d never known how much I wanted that until just then. I shifted my leg over top of the other to hold back the pulsing from my lower half. We definitely should have had a quickie before heading over to his aunt’s.

He grinned wider and moved his hand to my bare thigh. As his hand crept ever higher, I swatted at him.

“Not fair.”

He laughed. “Oh, come on. I can tell you want it.”

“I wanted it back in the hotel room, not in the car.”

“As if it’d be the first time you hooked up in a car.”

“No, but we are three minutes from your aunt’s house.”

“And?”
