Andi

Maybe since I’ve moved to Grady, I’ve been a little all over the place with my emotions. But the thing I’ve come to realize is that through all my back and forth, there has been one that has remained constant.

Jonas.

After he showed up a couple of nights ago, I spent a lot of time thinking about everything he said.

My mind waged war within itself over whether or not this relationship was a good idea. I couldn’t ignore the fact that every time I’d think of Jonas, I’d smile like the cat that ate the canary.

And I also can’t ignore the fact that he makes me happy when I’m with him. And most of all, he puts me at ease. That’s something tough to come by in my life.

So, I decided to tell my mind to shut the hell up. I deserve to be happy…or at least give myself a fighting chance to be happy.

Hell, I moved to Grady because that’s what my maiden name was. That should be some sort of cosmic sign from the universe, right?

That’s why I went to see Jonas last night. I used the cheesecake as an excuse, but of course, he saw right through it. Really, it was my attempt at extending an olive branch. My attempt of telling him that I’m willing to give this a try.

In typical Jonas Mitchell fashion, he said all the right things, and then, we spent the whole night in bed together. Well, the couch…then the shower…then the bed. What can I say? The man knows how to make my toes curl.

As much fun as the night was, I’m paying for it today. I’m so tired that I can’t concentrate on all this work I’m supposed to be getting done. Instead, I’ve been playing a stupid game on my phone, trying to stay awake.

After losing the level I’ve been on for the past hour, my phone chimes with a text from Jonas.

Jonas: Hey, beautiful. Busy day. Dinner tonight?

I smile like a giddy school girl just at the sight of his name.

Who am I?

I quickly type a reply.

Me: Of course. Do you want to come to my place? I have some serious unpacking to do.

It takes him no time at all to respond.

Jonas: Sounds good. I’ll bring food.

Me: See you then.

I set my phone down and decide I need to get back to work. It would be good to accomplish something for the day.

A few hours later, I’m back at my place. I came home, took a shower, and started unpacking some boxes in the bedroom.

When I hear a knock on the door, I just yell for him to come on in.

The door creaks open, and I hear footsteps. But before I see Jonas, Beau comes prancing into the room.

“Hey, Beau! Hey, buddy!” I coo at the german shepherd.

“He insisted that he come,” Jonas says, appearing a moment later.

I love on the pup and say, “It’s okay, Beau. I know he’s the one who tagged along with you.”

“Where’s my love at?” Jonas asks while walking over to me.

I stand back up and give him a long, slow kiss.
