Because hot or not, Oscar Drago had been at Aventine when my sister went missing. And tonight I started the hunt for what had happened to her.
Chapter14
Willa
Oscar parked the Porsche in front of the house and we headed for the door. Except once we got there, we could barely open it for all the boxes crowding the entry.
“Whatisall this?” I asked, edging past them.
Oscar looked at a couple of the labels. “Looks like they’re all for you.”
“I didn’t order anything,” I said.
But he was right. Theywereall for me.
Wtf…?
“Let me see your keys,” I said.
He chuckled. “I don’t have any keys.”
I did a double take. “What do you mean you don’t have keys?”
He shrugged. “Cars have fobs. House has keyless entry.”
I hadn’t even thought about the fact that he’d punched a code into an access panel to get into the house, but he was right: I hadn’t seen him use a key once.
He opened a drawer in the console table that sat against one wall in the foyer, then handed me a pair of scissors. “This should do the trick.”
I cut open one of the boxes and found a giant white box with anSLmonogram. “This must be some kind of mistake.”
Saint Laurent was way out of my league.
Lifting the lid on the box, I was greeted with a half inch of thick tissue paper. When I dug through that, I found a gorgeous black silk cocktail dress with a sheer panel across the chest.
“I didn’t order this,” I said, wishing I could have.
Wishing I could.
Oscar was already halfway up the stairs. “Looks like it’s yours anyway.”
“Hey,” Rock said, entering the room from the hall. Damn, those faded jeans really were made for him. “Let me help you get these upstairs, seeing as howDragocan’t be bothered. I hope you didn’t let him fool you on your little field trip today. He’s actually a selfish bastard.”
Oscar’s laughter drifted down the stairs. “You’re just jealous because I got Willa alone first.”
“I’m jealous as hell, but that doesn’t supersede you being a self-centered prick,” Rock said.
“I’m so confused,” I said. Was I talking about the dresses? Because there was definitely more than one given the labels on the shipping boxes. Or was I talking about the guys, who were starting to seem justa littlebit endearing?
Both?
I looked up at Rock. “Did you do this?”
He held up his hands. “Wasn’t me.”
I sighed, feeling suddenly tired. It was almost four, and I was really hoping for a nap before I had to get ready for the ball. “Can you just… help me?”
He wagged his eyebrows suggestively. “I can help you with a lot of things, Kitten.”
