Fuck me. I had two gorgeous guys calling me adorable nicknames. I didn’t know whether I would be a tiger or a kitten if I ever got them naked, but damned if I wasn’t itching to find out.
Rock walked to the fridge and removed a kombucha, then cracked the cap. Of course someone so perfect wouldn’t drink coffee and eat donuts in the morning.
Drago used the sink to rinse the remnants of his donut from his fingers. “So what’s on tap for today?”
I sighed. I didn’t have the energy to fight about the new phone. It was done, and I had to admit, the new one was super nice. “I guess I’ll go into town.”
I had a black maxi dress that I could probably dress up for the ball, but I was definitely going to need more makeup.
“Sounds good,” Drago said. “I can be ready in five minutes.”
I scowled. “That wasn’t an invitation.”
Rock laughed. “You’ll figure out that Drago doesn’t need an invite. Anywhere.”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “What if I don’t want company?”
Drago walked toward me and leaned down, close enough that his cheek briefly brushed mine, his scent filling my nose.
“Give it a chance. You might just like it.”
His voice was low and sexy, a whisper against my ear that sent a shot of lust rushing straight to my pussy, which had clearly gone all kinds of rogue.
“Fat chance.” I could only hope he couldn’t read the lie in my words, that he couldn’t tell I very much believed I’d like it, that I was a fraction of an inch from givingita try.
He chuckled and I jumped in surprise when he patted my ass on the way out of the room. “Get dressed. We’ll leave in half an hour.”
Chapter11
Willa
Ahalf hour later I was sliding into the passenger seat of a shiny black Porsche Boxster.
Because of course, Oscar Drago drove a Porsche.
He’d been waiting in front of the house, wearing black jeans and boots and leaning sexily against the passenger door of the car, when I’d emerged. Now I couldn’t help wondering what other cars lurked in the massive garage attached to the sleek modern mansion that was going to be my home for the school year.
He closed my door and I caught sight of an expensive-looking camera in the back seat while I was buckling my seat belt.
“Nice camera,” I said when he slid into the driver’s seat.
He shrugged and the car sprang to life with a sexy roar.
“Someone got access to the trust fund,” I said.
He looked over with a grin, and I almost fell into his dark eyes. “Try again, tiger.”
I didn’t have time to take another guess about how Oscar Drago had come into enough money to buy such an expensive camera. He hit the accelerator and I was pushed back in my seat as he sped down the driveway.
The car rode like a dream, and with the sunroof down and the wind in my hair, I could almost imagine I was somewhere else, with someone other than one of the guys who might know something about Emma’s disappearance.
The thought tied a knot in my stomach.
Dammit. I was starting tolikethem. Rock and Drago anyway. But that was a mistake. A dangerous one, for me and for Emma.
The streets leading to town were crowded with students, most of them in groups or couples. They looked happy and carefree, and I couldn’t help being envious. The weight of Emma’s disappearance had been hovering over me for two years. It had been there even when I’d been traveling, shadowing me like a ghost I couldn’t quite shake.
Before that, my dad’s abandonment had loomed over our lives. We’d been one of the most powerful families in the country before he turned traitor, then suddenly, we were outcasts, barely scraping by on the little money my mom had found hidden in the house and offshore accounts, moving to a smaller house, pretending like we didn’t notice the cold shoulder given to us by so many of the people we’d once thought of as family.
