“Sure,” I said. Rock and Oscar had left, probably hoping to avoid sampling Reva’s cookies straight out of the oven when they’d be forced to lie and smile and say they were delicious. “Where is it?”

“There’s extra everything on the wire shelves in the first room on the right in that little vestibule,” she said. “The flour should be on the bottom.”

“What vestibule?” I had no idea what she was talking about.

She laughed. “I’m not surprised you haven’t seen it. The garage is bigger than my entire house. The supply closet is in the back corner, by the motorcycles.”

Now it made sense. I’d only admired the bikes from afar. I’d been too busy salivating over the cars. “You got it.”

I opened the door to the garage and walked past the gleaming cars and motorcycles. Reva was right, there was a small dark hallway near the back corner that I’d never noticed before.

I entered it hesitantly and lights came on overhead, obviously activated by my presence.

I looked at the door on the right, then noticed another door across from it.

One with a keypad that glowed red.

I mean, come on. No one could blame me for wanting to see what was behind it, including the Kings.

Probably.

I thought about it and tried the code for the front door. Nothing happened, so I tried the code for the alarm next.

The red light turned green, and a click sounded from the door.

I turned the knob and stepped into a dark room filled with display screens. I closed the door behind me and stepped closer, trying to get my head around what I was seeing.

It didn’t take long. It was the security feed from cameras around the property.

And they were everywhere.

Six screens displayed live images from the front door, the back patio area, the kitchen, the living room, the second-floor media room, the gym.

I looked at the display showing the kitchen where Reva was stirring something in a mixing bowl and saw a drop-down menu from the room labeledKitchen. I clicked it, and several more rooms showed up as options.

Foyer.

Staircase (front).

Staircase (back).

Neo’s Room.

Drago’s Room.

Rock’s Room.

Willa’s Room.

Willa’s Bathroom.

Motherfuckers.

Every single room in the house was covered, the Kings’ bathrooms included.

And then:Driveway (house), Driveway (trees), Driveway (road).

I clicked onDriveway (house), not even sure what I was looking for, and got a view of the driveway near the house. The top of the screen displayed the current date and time, but there was a dropdown menu there too.
