No.
Because thankfully, she hadn’t offered money.
Sex trainer?
I shook my head, shoving my fingers through my short hair.
It had led me to a mess of a situation.
How was this even supposed to work?
Did Lucy expect me to come up with some sort of working schedule? Was I supposed to figure out a syllabus of sexual moves for this woman by the day of the week? Did she want flirting tips?
I walked over to my living room window that stretched floor to ceiling with crystal clear glass as I glared down at the bar across the street where I’d been ignored by Lucy and offered a hand by her sister.
I owed a lot to Mae, even if she didn’t realize it.
Because the moment Lucy said yes to me, my world changed. My axis shifted just enough to make me wonder.
Wonder what?
That wasn’t the point.
I never wondered before.
I never wondered what would happen after I slept with a woman.
I never wondered who I’d spend Christmas with.
I never wondered whether I could love someone for the rest of my life.
Lucy changed that, which freaked the shit out of me.
And now I was left with nothing because I’d managed to screw up my chances with a woman who rocked my world and managed to throw me off my game by becoming the Game Master.
I let out a sigh, realizing I couldn’t swipe the grin off my face when I thought about her. Lucy was supposed to be at my place any minute.
I’d made the least romantic kind of dinner I could think of and had it in the oven...
Meatloaf.
It had been all fun and games with Lucy, but if she seriously wanted me to teach her something when she clearly didn’t need to be taught a thing, I needed to get to the bottom of things with her.
So, I doused the potatoes in onion and garlic butter, layered the French bread with even more ooey, gooey garlic cheese spread, and managed to make a fresh blue cheese and bacon salad.
Kisses wouldn’t be on the menu tonight, so we could talk shop.
Get the details out of the way.
Set expectations.
A faint knock sounded at my door, and I spun on my heels as if a fire alarm had just sounded.
Just the thought of seeing Lucy made me feel like I had a shot.
By the time I reached the door, my heart hammered in my chest, and Lucy stood in the hallway, looking as beautiful as ever.
She smiled, and I nearly tripped over my two feet to kiss her adorable lips, but I gained control of myself and slid a soft kiss on her cheek instead. I had to stick to business.
