I didn’t have an answer for that. I may have been starving, but I didn’t want to eat anything given to me by my kidnappers, especially if they had me under a spell.
“You’re okay.” Thankfully, I didn’t have to give him an answer, because William strolled into the room and stared straight into my eyes. I could feel the intensity of his gaze burning through my body, which made me sit up much straighter. “I’m glad.”
“Why did you bring me here?” I demanded.
His brothers shot me a strange look, like I was being a bit rude when they were taking care of me, but I had to know.
“I brought you here to get you medical attention, since your spell backfired.”
I swallowed hard. He wasn’t taking his eyes off me; it was almost as if he didn’t think he needed to feel guilty about anything. That look was powerful. It knocked me off kilter.
“Well, I am feeling alright now, so I think I should leave.” I tried to stand up, but my legs were too weak to hold me up. Shit, I wasn’t going to be able to run away if my legs didn’t work.
“Thomas just wants to check on you, that’s all. Make sure you’re out of the woods.”
Ever since Antonio messed with my head and made me question all my judgements, I felt like I couldn’t trust anyone, which was why I wouldnevertrust these men. Especially if they had a spell on me, making me feel at ease around them.
“I don’t think I need checking up on,” I whispered back. “I just want to go home.”
Something flashed in William’s eyes, which instantly had me on edge. Were these brothers working for Antonio? I thought he was done with me, but I also knew he was very unpredictable and could come after me at any given moment. If Antonio was still deeply addicted to gambling and had no idea about my financial circumstances, there was a chance he could come after me at any given moment. I wouldn’t put anything past that asshole.
I scooted backwards on the couch, really shrinking in on myself so they couldn’t touch me anymore. I was terrified and I hated it.
“Ah, here is Thomas now. Here to run some tests. We will check in on you in a bit. Let me know if you need anything.”
I needed to think straight, so the less Osbornes around me, the better. Even if Thomas did do something to me, I was still going to get out of here. I was still going to get help.
Antonio wasn’t going to get to me, I wouldn’t allow it.
I still wasn’t allowedto leave even after Thomas checked me over and seemed to find nothing else wrong with me. After feeding me one of the best meals of my whole damn life, they’d all gone to bed. That only convinced me more that Antonio was behind all of this because it wasn’t very well organized.
I crept through the home,my heart racing. I had no idea how I was going to get out, but I would. Somehow. I was hoping to find a set of keys by the door, or something equally stupid. I was escaping William Osborne and his twisted sense of justice.
One thing was for sure, I wouldneveruse my magic to steal again. It hadn’t been worth it. Not when it left meherein the middle of this nightmare.

HENRY
Smash!
I bolted upright in bed, rubbing my eyes as I tried to figure out what had made that sound. It was way too noisy to have been in my dreams, but I my brain was still foggy with sleep.
Maybe it wasn’t anything. Maybe I just imagined it. I wasn’t quite sure what might have happened. Us Osborne brothers weren’t exactly known for our hard partying lifestyles. Maybe a couple of years ago, we went out a bit, but we all took our jobs way too seriously to be worrying about that now.
I started to lie back down, hoping this disturbance wouldn’t keep me from drifting off once more. I wasn’t quite sure what it was at this exact moment, but I knew there was something I needed to do in the morning. Something important that required me to be well rested.
I nestled down under the warm sheets, embracing the exhaustion that was just about to overcome me, the dreams that were already creeping through my veins…
“Shit!” I jumped up once more. “Oh my God, Samantha.”
My brothers and I weren’t the only people in the home. I needed to remember that. Looking after Samantha was the thing I needed to do in the morning. While Thomas said she was probably well enough to go home now, William wanted her to stay with us longer because he was so worried about her. He mentioned something about her ex-boyfriend that had him panicked. He wanted to take care of her.
At the time, I thought William just wanted to keep Samantha in the house because he was as intoxicated by her as I was. I was on board with that plan, because I wanted to keep her around as well, but now I was struck by the sensation that he was right. There was a reason to panic.
I didn’t know if anyone else had heard that sound, but I raced down the stairs two at a time, my heart thundering in my throat. I ran to the living room where Samantha had been sleeping on the couch, but much to my dismay, there was no one there.
“Samantha?” I called out quietly. I didn’t want everyone to wake up and panic until I knew exactly what was going on, but I needed her to hear me. “Sam?”
