“Vegas White?” Fylox questions my brother.
“Guilty as charged,” my brother responds.
“Kamila extends her deepest apologies, once again. I believe she made a fool of you in front of your girl?” There’s no emotion in the man’s voice, just a bland strain of nothing. He’s uncomfortable, and he bites through the social interactions he’s forced to endure.
“You’re Kamila’s other husband?” Grey asks. All three of us turn to collectively tell her to shut the fuck up while we’re compromised.
“That’s me.”
“You have a wonderful wife,” Grey tells him, and I gesture at her to cut it off.
“I know.” Fylox clears his throat. “The man you’re looking for traveled to Katantia a couple of weeks ago. He’s been terrorizing some friends of mine. He’s been going back and forth lately.”
“How—”
“You’re not easy to crack, Remo White, but I’m a tough man to say no to. I’d advise you to take risks from time to time. Don’t always play it safe. There are people like me out there who won’t hesitate to get their hands dirty to get to you. You became a person of interest to me the moment Hugh Abbott arrived in Katantia,” Fylox explains. “Earlier this morning, he welcomed a guest. An underage one. I believe your girlfriend works with her. The guest’s been fired from her show on Avra channel.”
“But—”
“The announcement’s coming on Monday,” Fylox informs us. “The girl’s here. Hugh Abbott has a history, and I would appreciate it if you could take the girl home before she disappears. For good.”
Grey gulps, a loud sob erupting from her.
“She’s in LA,” I state, although there’s not a lot this man can do wrong if he broke down my system of protection. “We’re tracking her. She’s also posting images from her home on social media.”
“False signal. Carey Jean’s in Katantia, and things aren’t looking good for her.”
