“Boss.”

It’s Clay Flores, and that reminds me. He told me that Chester Park has an Earthling girlfriend. I should tell Teri about them. I don’t know how long they’ve been together, but that’s another couple between our species.

“What is it?” I ask.

“I have some bad news,” he says in a rush. “Headquarters… it’s been attacked.”

“Attacked?” I roar. “Is everyone all right?”

“It’s… If you can get here, you might want to.”

I hang up.

“What’s wrong?” Teri asks.

“I need to go.”

“Go? Where?”

“To my biker headquarters,” I say grimly, already texting for Hal to swing by and pick me up. “I need to check on my men and make sure they’re all right. I can’t leave them to hang out to dry.”

“I’ll come with you.”

“No. My headquarters was attacked. I would feel much better if you stay here. I’ll be in touch.”

To my surprise, Teri just sweetly kisses my cheek and doesn’t argue at all.

“Be careful is all,” she says.

“You too. Don’t open the door for anyone.”

“I won’t.” She hugs my tightly and kisses me again, and off I go, heading downstairs and hoping onto Hal’s bike.

Will this nightmare ever end?

It’s nothard at all to watch Alec leave because I swiped his key. He’ll have to come back in, and then he’ll have no choice but to come and take me with him.

But I realize my mistake as I watch him out the window. He is just standing out there, waiting. Someone’s going to come pick him up.

No matter. As soon as the guy pulls up, I rush out of the room and dash outside. I hop onto his bike and start it up, tearing after them. I’m not sure which they turned after the first turn out of the lot, but I make a guess, and thankfully, it turns out to be the right one because I spy them up ahead.

I’ve never had to tail anyone before, and I think it’s probably easier in a car, but if they notice, I can’t tell. They definitely don’t make any turns that seem to suggest they’re trying to lose me, or anyone else for that matter. They are driving fast, though, which I understand.

His house and now his headquarters. Fuck, Alec must be going out of his mind. The Koxians came with him because they wanted peace, just like he did, but Joelo had to come along and fuck it all up.

It’s about twenty minutes before they pull to a stop in front of a large three-story building. There’s glass everywhere, just about every single window busted, and I gulp. This doesn’t look good.

There’s no point in hiding it now. I pull right up behind the guy who picked up Alec.

The biker president alien glances over, and his lips twist upward in a smile for only a second. “Teri, how…” His gaze shifts over to his bike. “You swiped my key?”

“Yes,” I say unapologetically. I toss him the key, and he catches it one-handed with ease.

He nods to me and turns to the driver. “Hl, are they still here?”
