Page 4 of Doctor’s Orders

She chews on her bottom lip for a moment. “You’ve been following me, Dr. Wes.”

I should have known she’d seen me. After all, it’s been almost a full year of stalking. At first, it was just cyber stalking. Checking out her social media presence, finding pictures from her son’s latest birthday, saving a few family photos from her sister’s accounts… Simple stuff. But the next time we had a session together, I followed her all the way back to her apartment.

I didn’t go inside then.

But now? It’s rare I go one night without watching her sleep.

“I have,” I admit freely. “Does that bother you?”

Even if she says yes, it won’t change my mind about tonight.

She shakes her head. “No. It’s actually been kind of… nice.” Her cheeks flush, and she wiggles in her seat for a moment. “I always know there’s someone looking out for me.”

My heart swells in my chest. “That’s right,” I tell her, reaching across the table and taking her hands in mine. They’re soft to the touch and delicate to hold, and I can’t resist raising them to my lips. As I spread kisses across her knuckles, I maintain eye contact with her. “I have your best interest in mind, Lacy. Yours and your son’s. Don’t ever forget that.”

Her eyes widen, and she presses her fingertip against my lips. “Do you mean that?”

“Yes.” I’m deadly serious when it comes to her. “That’s why I’m here. For you.” Taking her fingertip between my teeth, I nibble on the edge.

She flushes deeper and tries to pull her hands away. I let them fall to the table, but I don’t let go. “Lacy. I want you to feel like a woman tonight.”

Her eyes widen beautifully, and it takes everything in me not to reach across the table and drag her into my lap. “What does that mean?”

We’ve worked on this during our sessions, but this is new territory out of the office. Perhaps a demonstration will work best to drive my point home. “Let’s try something, and you tell me how it makes you feel.” I release her hands and nod towards the dance floor. Couples are still mingling in pairs, but there’s enough room for her to join them. “I know you love to dance. You’ve talked about it often.”

“That was a long time ago,” Lacy says softly. “I was a different person then.”

“No,” I assure her, “you’re still you. No matter what you think.”

She frowns. “Okay, supposing I agreed with you, what does that have to do with anything?”

A shiver runs down my spine. I’ve been thinking about this for a while, what my first order would be. Leaving her house was necessary for tonight to happen, so my first order from this morning doesn’t count. The first order I give tonight needs to be special. It needs to beperfect.I want her to get in touch with her authentic self. I want her to remember what makes her happy.

“Dance for me.”

She nearly chokes on her drink. “I’m sorry?”

“Dance for me,” I repeat, moving my legs so that she can get by. “Keep your eyes on me the entire time. I want to watch you in the open tonight. I want to feel your eyes on mine.”

I won’t lie. I’ve been craving her gaze for months. It’s killed me to move out of sight at the last moment. I want her to know that I’m there. I want her to know that I’m watching - that I see her,all of her, and that I love every single piece of her.

Lacy draws a breath but doesn’t say no. Instead, she scoots out of her side of the booth, gives me a cursory glance as she walks past, then moves to the center of the dance floor.

The music shifts to something sensual and slow, and my heart starts to race.

This is it.This is the moment I’ve been waitingso longfor.

She turns around. Our eyes meet.

And I’m going straight to hell for all the things I want to do to her right here, right now, in front of all these people, without a care in the world who sees because she’smine.

Now and forever.
