“I’m positive, baby. I took care of the fucker myself and watched as a close friend, a sister if you will, dealt with the Rebel. Neither one of them will ever bother us again. From now on, we’re gonna focus on the boys, livin’ our lives, and buildin’ a love to last a lifetime. Sound good?” I ask her, bending over as she feeds Nyx to place a soft kiss against her lips.
“Absolutely perfect, Nolan. I love you more than words or actions will ever show you. Thank you for everything you’ve given me and the life you want to build with us,” she says, as I wipe her tears away.
“No thanks needed, Half Pint. You’ve given me more than I ever thought I’d have in my life. I love you and no one will ever tear us apart because we’re stronger together than apart,” I return, watching her as I pull out clean pajamas for the boys and a few things for my girl.
Once Nyx is fed, his diaper is changed, and I’ve got him in pajamas, I turn my attention to Brent. He’s awake and squirming all over. Pressing the button for a nurse, I remove the pants they have him in and put a thicker pair of pajama pants on him. It’s too damn cold in here for my son to be wearing paper thin clothes. The nurse helps me by disconnecting his IV so I can put his shirt on. Thankfully, it’s bigger than he usually wears so it fits over the cast easily. Before she can hook the IV back up, I lift him from the crib and place him next to his momma. Brent curls up into Kelsey’s side and instantly falls back asleep. Pulling out my phone, I take a picture of this moment as the nurse patiently waits for me to move him back to the crib.
Sitting down in the horrible hospital chair, I cover up and lay my head on the bed next to Kelsey. She’s already drifting off as I look up at her. With Nyx and Brent surrounding us, I know life will never be as peaceful and perfect as it is right now. This is my family and taking the leap into love was definitely worth it. Kelsey and the boys make everything worth it. It will only get better with time.
Epilogue
ONCE AGAIN THE bullshit going on with the club is over. Judge and his club found their guy and have taken care of the situation. When Death pointed out the Rebel and Prospect were acting weird, they followed up on it. Razer hacked his phone and managed to get the fucker’s exact location. He was hiding out less than a mile from the clubhouse. He’s no longer a threat to anyone. Death has more than taken care of Vince. We all watched on as our brother tore the stupid fuck limb from limb. It wasn’t nearly enough if you ask me. The reality is, Vince beat the shit out of Kelsey multiple times after she left him. He tormented her once he finally found her again. And, he almost took her and two innocent children away from a man I’ve known my entire life. That’s not something he would have recovered from. We would have lost an entire family because Vince was such a piece of shit. I’m glad the trash in both clubs has been taken out and for the moment we don’t have to worry about anything.
Now, I can focus on training and nothing more. Well, club business, but there’s not a lot going on. So, my time is spent in the gym. When I’m not working, I’m in the ring training for my upcoming fight. I wasn’t going to host another fight again right now, but with Death’s revelation when he came home from Briar Glen. He went back to the warehouse and took on five men the day he had Lash call church to tell us about LaRusso. That’s after promising us all he wouldn’t go back there ever again. So, I’m gonna host a fight night and let him take out any remaining aggression he’s got going on.
Death has been a fucking mess since his son was born. Not only was he born early and in a traumatizing manner, but because Kelsey was crushed to know she can no longer give him more children. He’s determined to make sure if they decide to have more kids it will happen. The man will adopt, foster, or do whatever it takes to give his woman exactly what she wants. I’m so fucking happy he found the woman who completes him. Kelsey is like the rest of the ol’ ladies and they’ll both come through this, with our help, stronger than ever before.
If we can’t find an opponent for Death, I’ve decided I’ll get in the ring with him. It’s been a while since we’ve done more than spar. Plus, the guys from Briar Glen will be here for the fights. Judge and Ice want to get in the ring. There’s no way in hell I’m putting Ice and Death in a match together though. They’re too evenly matched and I know Death just kicked Ice’s ass when he was still in Briar Glen. We want a match everyone will bet on while also putting on a good show for the crowd we always pull in.
As I tape up my hands to get in the ring with Shank, my phone rings on the bench next to me. Picking it up, I see Hartley’s name on the screen. Shaking my head, I wonder what one of my sisters-in-law wants this time.
“Hartley, what can I do for you?” I answer the phone.
“Boxer, I need some help here. No one’s available to come to the community center right now. I’ve got a large load that’s just been delivered and can use all the help I can get. Makena and I are trying, but it’s too much for just us. I know you’re training and probably about to get in the ring right now. Is there any way I can beg and plead for you to come down here and give us a quick hand?” she asks me as I hear a loud thud in the background.
“I’ll be right there,” I grunt out, Shank shaking his head at me. Hanging up the phone, I glare up in the ring at him. “I don’t want to hear a fuckin’ word. I’ll be back as soon as I can. Not gonna hang out at the center all day.”
“So you haven’t seen Makena yet?” Shank questions, tilting his head to the side as he stares at me.
“No, I haven’t. I heard Hartley hired someone to help her, but didn’t know much more than that. It’s not among my priorities to know that shit,” I tell him, standing up to pull on my shirt.
“You’re gonna lose your fuckin’ mind. She’s just your type,” Shank says with a smirk on his face.
“I don’t got a fuckin’ type,” I growl out, turning away and leaving the gym.
Getting on my bike, I don’t hesitate to make my way to the community center Hartley started. The wind blows across my face as I take the short ride there. Instead of parking in front, I make my way around back where they bring all the donations in. Hartley is outside, covered in dirt and sweat as I park my bike and shut the engine off. Hundreds of boxes fill the back area and I have a feeling I’ll be moving most of this shit by myself.
As I get off my bike, a massive dog comes racing through the back doors. I’ve honestly never seen a dog as large as this one. What the fuck is going on here? A young woman runs out just after him. Like my sister-in-law she’s covered in dirt and sweat. The only difference is the red face she’s sporting.
“Hartley, I’m so sorry. I went to grab some water out of my office and Beast pushed me out of the way. I’ll get him back inside now,” she mumbles, her voice filled with tears as her body trembles with fear.
“It’s okay, Makena. He’s not hurting anything. I’m sure he just wants some fresh air. Let him roam around out here. We’re the only ones here. Kena, this is Boxer, my brother-in-law. Boxer, this is Makena. And that is her dog Beast,” Hartley says, thinking of multiple things at once as usual.
“It’s nice to meet you,” I say without looking at the girl. “This all needs to go inside?”
“Yeah. We’ve been trying but the boxes are heavy and awkward,” Hart tells me with a grimace on her face.
“It’s all good. I’ll get this taken care of.”
I start at the closest box and begin moving everything inside. Hartley shows me where they’re putting it all. As I make several trips inside, Makena also makes multiple ones carrying boxes. Hartley is inside on the phone with someone. I keep my attention off the girl after Shank’s words before I left the gym. I’m not looking to be tied down to anyone like my brothers. I’m perfectly happy fucking a different pussy on a regular basis. Variety is the spice of life.
Today has taken its toll on my body. After lifting boxes I had no business carrying inside, I’m wiped out. And there’s still so much to do. Not at the community center though. I’m done here for the day. Grabbing my keys from the desk, I hook Beasts’ leash on his collar and go in search of my boss. I’m so thankful Hartley gave me a job at the community center. It’s the beginning of what I need in order to move the fuck on. To finally get away from my parents and not have bad news for Jagger the next time I talk to him.
I was an ‘oops’ baby. My parents are older and have a strict belief system. Not in God or anything like that. It’s more of their way of life. I wasn’t allowed to do much of anything growing up. If it wasn’t my parents telling me no, then it was my older brother, Jagger. He got to live his life doing whatever he wanted while keeping me locked in an ivory tower. Now, he’s off living his life and dreams. Hell, I couldn’t even have friends because my parents didn’t approve of anyone. They’ve got plans for me and those plans are ones I don’t want to partake in. But, that’s a story for another day.
Walking down the hall, I find Hartley in her office. Her husband is with her as she holds their daughter and their son plays on the floor by her desk.
“Hartley, I don’t mean to interrupt,” I begin, nerves filling me. “Um, if you don’t need me for anything else, I’m gonna head out now.”
