“I’m goin’ back outside. You need anythin’, call me, Half Pint. You fuckin’ overdid shit tonight after just gettin’ out of the hospital. Next time you need to bring in some help instead of doin’ this shit on your own. It’s not all on your shoulders, Kelsey,” he tells me, bending over and pressing a kiss against my forehead before turning and leaving me alone in bed.

After the day I had at the shop and then working the event, the workout Death just gave me is exactly what I need to put me to sleep. Exhaustion fills me as my eyes slide closed and sleep finds me. I don’t have nightmares about Vince finding me and beating the shit out of me again. Or about someone chasing me to take my boys from me. I get a deep sleep filled with dreams of Death and the man I know he can be.

Chapter Thirteen

EVERY FUCKING DAY I watch Kelsey sink further into herself. She’s so damn scared of everything around her as she waits for that bastard Vince to show up again and take her son before killing her. Or beating the shit out of her again. We all know he’s after some trust funds she has, but none of us know how much money we’re talking about or anything else. I’ve refused to have Zeus look into it for multiple reasons. The main one being invading Kelsey’s privacy. If she wanted us to know how much money she has, she’d tell us. At the end of the day this is her fucking life and I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure she’s safe, happy, and doesn’t ever have to worry about that cocksucker ever again.

I could kill him with my bare hands and not think twice about doing so. That’s not what I want though. Killing a man like Vince is giving him an easy out. He wouldn’t ever have to suffer for what he’s done to one of the best women I’ve ever met in my life. Or for threatening a little boy who is so damn innocent he shouldn’t ever know the truth of his father and what he’s said about him. Kelsey and her son deserve to have everything good in the world and if I can make sure they get it, I will.

I’m not even sure where the hell my thoughts are coming from these days. It’s been just under a week since I sunk into Kelsey’s hot, wet pussy again. Fucking her wasn’t in my plans. Taking her against a wall certainly wasn’t what I was intending to do when I went inside that night. I wanted to check on her and make sure she was okay after working a double shift and catering an event all on her own. I don’t regret fucking her again. I’ve literally been dreaming about being with her since the first time it happened. Now, it’s all I can think about. I focus more on having her body wrapped around mine and sliding in and out of her wet heat than anything else. Unless I’m on guard duty. Then my entire focus is on making sure no one gets close to the apartment she’s staying in.

Today, I need to have my head in the game. I’m going to do something I never once thought I’d do. Not for a woman that’s not part of the club. Kelsey might be Jaelyn’s business partner, but she’s not an ol’ lady to anyone and really has no ties to the club. Other than carrying my son. I have never gone out of my way for anyone who’s not part of the club. My family, blood or not, are the only ones I care about. They’re who I take care of and worry about. Kelsey is someone we’re protecting and it’s nothing more. At least that’s what I’m still trying to tell myself. It’s not even close to being the truth though.

I want Kelsey with a ferocity I’ve never experienced in my life. Even when I was in a relationship in the past, I didn’t feel half of what I feel for Kelsey for her. The woman has sunk her claws in me and I don’t want to pry them loose. I’m not sure I’ll ever claim her as my ol’ lady or accept my son in my life, but I’ll do everything in my power to ensure she’s safe and protected. Which is why I’m about to defy everyone in my life and do something fucking stupid as hell today. No one knows so they can’t stop me.

“Death, get a fuckin’ move on it,” Lash growls out as he practically runs my ass over while I walk through the common room of the clubhouse.

“Where’s the damn fire, Lash?” I question him as he rushes up the stairs toward his room here.

“Hartley’s in labor and I gotta get her to the fuckin’ hospital,” he returns, not slowing down or looking anywhere other than toward his door.

Everyone starts clapping and cheering as they begin to file outside. We’ll give them an escort to the hospital where the entire club will take up the waiting room as we wait for our newest family member to join the world. Jaelyn might be the only one who won’t go as she just got out of the hospital and is at home with the triplets. She’ll send her sister all the love and support she needs without leaving her babies. Not that Zeus and Sabotage will let her out of the house to go there. Sab will go to support his brother and sister-in-law and so he can give his wife updates on what’s happening.

In minutes, Lash is carrying Hartley through the door of the clubhouse and loading her into her SUV. Hearing her scream out in pain breaks something in me. In a few months, this is what Kelsey will be going through. So much pain just to get our son out in the world. I wasn’t there when she had her son and I’m not sure if I can be there when she has our son. It’s not something I’m sure she’ll want me to be a part of. What I do know is she won’t be going through this shit alone. I’ll make sure someone’s in the room with her and keeps a close eye on everything going on.

We all start our engines as Lash races around the SUV and gets in to drive away. Sabotage races up and jumps on his bike as we all begin to pull out of the parking lot. Several bikes race in front of the SUV and don’t slow down as we all make our way to the hospital. This is perfect for me. Everyone knows I don’t like hospitals and will more than likely wait outside or go somewhere close until it’s time to go in and see the baby or visit with whoever’s in the hospital. I couldn’t even stay for very long when Kelsey was just in there.

Pulling up to the hospital, Lash doesn’t park in a spot, choosing to pull up to the doors as he jumps out and races around to get his wife out of the passenger seat. I watch him lift her in his arms and race through the doors with her. Sabotage gets off his bike and moves the SUV to a parking space before moving his bike. When I don’t make a move to get off my bike, Sab walks over to me.

“What’s up, Death?” he questions me over the rumble of my engine.

“Nothin’. Gonna go for a ride. I’ll be back in a while,” I tell him, knowing there’s a chance he’ll question me or want to come along.

“Still tryin’ to figure out what you’re gonna do about Kelsey?”

“Yeah. I got somewhere to be. I’ll be back as soon as I can,” I tell him, making a move to leave the parking lot.

“Be safe. You need me, call and I’ll be right there,” he says before watching me leave the hospital.

It’s taken me hours to get to the LaRusso compound. I’ve had nothing but time to think about how I’m gonna play this shit. Other than making sure Kelsey is safe from her ex, this shit could go either way. LaRusso is a smart man and I know he’s got enough man power to take me out without breaking a sweat. We’ve never done business with the fucker and he knows nothing about me. I’m showing up unannounced and with some proof against his precious son. Vince has his parents wrapped around his little finger and they always do everything they can to protect the fucker. This is one time they won’t be able to save him from me. If LaRusso doesn’t fucking do something about this situation, he’ll find out really quick I’m not playing around and will gut his fucking son where he stands when I find him.

I’ve got guns trained on me as I ride up the long driveway. LaRusso is so fucking arrogant he doesn’t even have his gate closed. It’s open and there’s no guards preventing anyone from pulling up to his house. Yeah, he’s got guards all over the yard armed with guns. They might be aimed at me but not a single guard has pulled the trigger or made an attempt to stop me from getting up to the house. Fucking pussies!

Getting off my bike, I head to the front door and am met with a guard who glares at me as he tries to intimidate me. It’s not working and I won’t give him an A for effort. The man is a few inches shorter than me and has no muscle mass to speak of. While he might be carrying a gun, he won’t pull the trigger. It’s in his eyes. He’s looking at me with fear filled eyes and I know he’s going to let me pass without a question. Lifting my hand, I pound on the door instead of pressing the ornate doorbell at my side.

The door opens to show an older man who’s wearing a formal black suit. His balding head is wrinkled and his eyes show all the age and wisdom only a man of his age can have.

“May I help you, sir?” he asks me, his voice wavering slightly as he hunches over.

“I’m here to see LaRusso. Need to talk to him about a situation involvin’ his son,” I tell him, my voice cold and hard as I wait to hear his response.

“Master LaRusso isn’t seeing anyone today I’m afraid,” he states as the man in question stands at the end of the hall behind him.

“It’s okay Jefferies. Come in,” LaRusso states as he begins walking closer to the door where I stand.

Jefferies stands off to the side and allows me entrance into the house. It’s filled with gold and lavish marble on the floors. Everything in the house is ornate and over-the-top. I’m disgusted walking into the foyer. They’ve spent all sorts of money to make everyone feel as if they’re beneath them. It’s not the truth at all. The LaRusso’s are fake as fuck and crave what everyone else around them has.

“Follow me,” LaRusso barks out as he turns to the left.
