“Who picks after then?”
“Why?” he asked, setting his fork down to study her.
“I was thinking of the perfect person for him.”
“Do you really want to set my friend up on a blind date?” he asked, surprised.
Lauren nodded. “I think you’re going to like the idea. We just have to figure out how to convince her to do it.”
“Oh? We?” He grinned. “Now I’m a part of this?”
“We are a package deal now, sir.”
Jake sent her his most charming smile. “Indeed, we are. Tell me more.”
He picked his fork back up and finished off his dinner as Lauren explained her idea to him. She was excited but needed some help to pull it off. This woman was perfect for him and he for her.
Jake agreed and sent a message off to the group chat that he was picking second for Evan. They had until Luke set up his date to figure out how to make it work for their pick.
Lauren was thrilled that he was on board. Jake did the dishes while she called Catherine to explain what they had talked about and get her advice on how to convince the woman.
“I think that’s a great choice! Damn, I can’t believe I didn’t come up with it on my own.”
“You used all your matchmaking skills on us. We aren’t upset over that either.” Lauren laughed.
“Nah, there’s more talent, I just didn’t think of that one first. I’m happy to help though. Let me set up something with all of us to hang out and see how we can convince her.”
“Thank you!”
She ended the call and joined Jake in the kitchen for a glass of wine.
“To blind dates,” she said, raising her glass.
“To finding love,” he said, touching his glass to hers.
