Once again, he caught a twitch or something around her lips. “That is actually true.”

“I’d like to get some.”

“I guess we can do that.”

“It’s a date.”

She shot him a sideways glance. “It most definitely isn’t.”

He chuckled. “Okay. It’s not a date.”

Grace

Grace parkedas close to the cabins as she could and then waited for Riley to exit his home. His motorcycle was parked out front, and she had a ramp in the back of her truck in order to get it in the bed.

She didn’t dare climb out to go knock on his door for fear she’d let curiosity get the better of her and she wouldn’t decline if he were to give her a tour. Instead, she pulled out her phone and sent him a quick message. Then she tossed the phone on the seat beside her.

Within minutes, he was out the door and rolling his motorcycle toward her. It took minimal effort for him to get the bike in the back of her truck, and he hadn’t needed her help to do any of it.

Riley climbed into the truck and held out her phone as he offered her a smile. Why was he suddenly in a better mood than he’d been before?

You’re agoodtherapist. The words ran through her head over and over without stopping. Grace kept her hands on the steering wheel, tightening then relaxing her grip if only to keep her mind off the fact that Riley was in her truck. She was taking him to town.

What was she doing? She was taking him to town in her truck and they were leaving the safety of Shane’s property.

She had to have lost her mind.

Grace shot a look at him out of the corner of her eye. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust him. She did. He was a decent guy, and he’d never done anything to make her nervous. It was her own emotions she couldn’t trust.

Her heart flipped every single time he shifted and looked in her direction. Her palms grew clammy.

Keep your focus on the road. That’s all you have to do. Drop off the motorcycle. Bring him back. And above all else, stay professional.

Oh, wait. They were going to the sweets place. It wasn’t going to be a short trip after all.

What had she gotten herself into?

Grace let out a sigh which ended up sounding like an explosion of sound due to the quiet in the cab. She should have turned on the radio before he climbed in. Turning it on now would only draw more attention to the fact that she was on edge.

Her face filled with heat and she fumbled with the dials on the dash to turn down the heater. It had been cold when she’d started her truck, but now it felt like a sauna. There was no rhyme or reason to the change… except her passenger.

His words last week entered her thoughts. Riley’s insistence that there was something brewing between them and that acknowledging it would only benefit his treatment had set her on edge all week. She’d had to force herself to ignore just how close he was to the truth. She was drawn to him. She had been since the first day they’d met.

The question now wasn’t whether or not she should give in. It was why she was fighting it so much. Was it because she thought it would be unethical? Or because she was scared he was right?

“You doing okay?”

She jumped and glanced in his direction. “Mhmm.”

Riley chuckled. “You don’t have to lie to me.”

“I’m not lying,” she squeaked.Good one, Grace. She definitely didn’t sound like she believed her own words. Why would he?

That warm laugh escaped his lips again and he settled back in his seat. Thankfully, he didn’t argue with her further. “Would you feel better if we turn this into an extra session?”

Grace snuck another surprised look at him. “You can’t be suggesting that you would willingly submit yourself to a session while we drive to town.”
