His chuckle against her mouth sent warmth pooling into her stomach, and tingles igniting in her sex. “Give me your phone.”
“Again?” She handed it to him at the same time he withdrew his and watched him turn the power off to both. “These go to the trash. Problem solved.”
She tried to turn away and duck from under his arms, but he grasped her jaw and chin, not allowing the movement. “I’m going to fuck you all weekend, I’m going to fill that mouth with more than profanities, and I’m going to do it all while ensuring you remain safe.”
“You should go visit your secretary.” Why did she say that? It was too late now because the jealous monster spoke without thought.
His face tilted and his eyes narrowed to thin slits. “I don’t want Sherry and never have. She’s dead anyway. I don’t know why she said that when I’ve never given her any reason to believe I was interested. You’re the first employee I’ve ever become involved with, and you’ll be the last.”
“Dead? A person is dead because of me? After this case is solved, it’s over.”
His body pressed into hers a bit harder. “No.”
“No?”
“Hell no, and this is why.”
She wasn’t prepared for this type of kiss. Lust was one thing, but his tongue swirling in her mouth laced with emotion set her heart aflame. This wasn’t supposed to happen…ever, but she didn’t know how to stop it as she met his mouth with a need matching his own.
When the kiss ended, they were both breathless and hot. The elevator doors opened, but they didn’t move. Tessa licked her lips and peeped under his arm when someone cleared their throat.
“Should we wait for another elevator?” The older woman politely asked. Embarrassment colored her cheeks, but Aidan didn’t seem to mind.
“That won’t be necessary,” he answered for her, linked his fingers with hers, and dragged her into the parking garage, dropping the cellphones in the trashcan on the way.
Tessa honestly didn’t know where they were going, but hoped it had a humongous bed, and a boatload of wine so she didn’t say something stupid. The slacks molded to his fine ass caused goosebumps. He jerked his suit jacket off and unbuttoned his shirt, draped them over his arm, stomped to her car, and tossed everything in the backseat.
A gray t-shirt snugly fit his chest, and muscles rippled with every movement. She’d only seen him in business suits, so this was an unexpected treat for the eyes.
“Good thing you wore pants today. The heels might be a problem, but we’ll make it work.”
A grin lifted the corners of her mouth when he halted before his motorcycle, plopped a helmet over her head, straddled it, put a helmet over his own head, and smiled at her while buckling the strap. “Buckle your helmet, get on, and hold on. We’ll be going fast.”
Thankful for having worn pants, she did as she was told and nestled close to his back when she should run. Warmth radiatedfrom his body, and the hint of expensive cologne. She could lick him from top to bottom.
Aidan turned the key and revved the motor but glanced over his shoulder one more time before pulling away from the space. “Move with me.”
She nodded at his command, tightly wrapped her arms around his waist, and laughed when they left the garage.
Chapter 23
His boss had every right to remove him from the case. If this were their last weekend together, he’d make it a memorable one.
Her breasts pressed into his back, her core warmed his ass, and her arms stayed locked around his waist the entire trip. She seemed content, never once complaining on the two-and-a-half-hour trip to his cabin on the shores of Lake Cumberland.
It was dark when they exited the highway in Somerset, Kentucky. The air turned cooler, and she huddled to him, seeking his warmth. He should’ve grabbed jackets but didn’t think of it with the hurried departure.
By the time he stopped, she’d slipped her arms beneath his shirt. Occasionally, her fingers grazed his nipples or strayed over his abdomen, so he was rock hard when he finally rotated the key to the off position. The little tease knew what she did to him.
He rubbed her arms, allowing her time to adjust to the new surroundings. There weren’t any streetlights this far in, and to some it could be eerie. Leaves rustled in the slight breeze, and shadows danced over the land. Tessa remained behind him but scooted back a little.
The small cabin in the middle of a tiny clearing belonged to his family. He kept the rest of the land wild for privacy, although there weren’t any neighbors within a couple miles. Numerous surveillance cameras were mounted in the trees with a state-of-the-art setup inside. Crickets sang and treefrogs croaked, but those were the only sounds besides water gently lapping the shoreline and cliffs.
“Is this yours?” Tessa asked incredulously. “It’s so peaceful.”
“Yes. Actually, it was my dad’s, but he left it to me.”
“You’ve never spoke of your family before?”
