“I think she may already be involved,” Felix spat out with an anger-filled expression as he uttered the three words that made drove me crazy. “They took her.”

At those words, everything inside me went cold.

“What do you mean they took her?” I practically growled as panic filled me.

“They caught up to us. Some men in a black van. We were on our way to Manny’s place to look for Beth when they drove up. They kicked the shit out of me and grabbed Jane into the car. Then, they took off again.”

This couldn’t be happening. My world got smaller and smaller until I could only focus on one thing. Jane was in the hands of my enemies.

A man whose wife just died. A man who blamed me for the incident.

God.God.

I grabbed Felix’s shoulders, and he winced, but I couldn’t control my force, not with everything spiraling out of control inside me.

I was officially losing it.

But I couldn’t. I had to keep my mind because if I didn’t, Jane was as good as dead.

“Tell me more,” I implored. “Anything you know. The type of men, the type of van. Tell me everything.”

Felix shook his head. “I don’t know anything. It happened so fast that I couldn’t even get the van license number.”

“Fuck!” Both boys jumped at the explosion of my voice. I didn’t even realize Emmett was still standing there. I needed to leave.

“Lock all the doors and call the police,” I told Felix as I ran down the stairs.

Panic filled my chest and squeezed my heart until I felt like I couldn’t breathe. An eye for an eye. I had taken away their precious thing, and now they were stealing mine.

But if they hurt her, I would turn this entire city crimson with their blood.

I got on my bike and charged out.

I calledBrandon on the way, told him to send over some men, and then hung up.

We were going to war.

In less than thirty minutes, I stood in front of the Moretti mansion, noting all the windows and escape points. I figured out which one Don Filippo likely stayed in and then leaped over the fence into their home.

But I didn’t account for the behemoth that blended out of the shadows and charged toward me, murder in his eyes.

I threw the first punch and drove his entire body back. He was a hulking monster, but I didn’t care. I had enough training and rage to take down anybody at this point. I was going to save Jane. Fuck everything and everyone else.

I drove my fist into his face the second time, effectively knocking him out. He dropped to the ground with a thud. I tried to continue my advance, but the scuffle drew a small army of about half a dozen men who came around the house, running to me.

Shit. They must have been expecting me.

Didn’t matter. I would destroy all of them.

They came at me with blows and parried attacks, but I avoided them expertly, taking them down one after the other. I shot my knee out, getting one in the gut before a roundhouse kick knocked his partner out. I drew in breaths, keeping my focus to keep from just completely raging out on them. Until one man was smart enough to pull out a gun and cock it at me.

I smiled. I knew I was worth more to them alive than dead. If not, they would have shot me already.

“Take me to your leader,” I ordered in a mocking tone. The man growled, his eyes narrowing like he wanted nothing more than to shoot me.

“Stop.” A voice announced. A very familiar voice.

I turned, and there he was, coming from the house.
