“Yes!” Trinity squealed.

I unlocked the door and scooped Trinity up, walking through the main hall to the playroom just off the kitchen.

Even though I had only gotten the keys yesterday, I had Leigh come over and set up a playroom. There were toys stacked neatly on shelves and a bookshelf beneath the window that took up most of one wall. I had spent too much time researching children’s books and buying the best ones.

“This is all for me?” Trinity asked as I set her down.

Her eyes were wide as she looked around the room. She squealed again and launched herself at a dollhouse that was larger than she was.

“Ty,” Haley said, looking around the room. “This is all too much.”

“It’s not enough. If I can give you guys the best of everything, I’m going to. Both of you are welcome in my house, and you should know that.”

“I know,” Haley said, her eyes glistening as she turned back to watch Trinity playing.

Through the window, Haley saw the big treehouse and the swing set. There was a pool with a fence around it on the other side of the treehouse. She walked closer to the window, looking at the large patio and back deck built for entertaining.

Haley looked back at me and grinned. She left the playroom, and I followed her into the kitchen. It was all dark cupboards and butcher block counters. Haley’s eyes seemed like they were about to bug out of her head as she looked at the shining stainless steel appliances.

“This is amazing.”

“Wait until you see the rest of the house. You’re going to fall in love with it.”

“I’m already in love with it,” Haley said, tossing her arms around me and pulling me into a tight hug. “You spent way too much money on it, though.”

“Well, I thought that if this is going to be the place where our daughter grows up, I may as well make sure it was everything that we could want from the beginning.”

Haley pulled away from me and smiled, pulling herself up to sit on the massive island in the middle of the room.

“I never thought that everything could be this amazing,” Haley said as she ran her hand through her hair. “I thought I was doing the best I could by keeping Trinity away from you. I didn’t think that it was possible for someone to change this much.”

I stood between her legs and cupped her face. “I love you, Hales. I know that you were doing what you thought was best. We could have both handled everything differently and in a better manner, but everything that happened brought us to where we are now.”

Haley smiled softly and closed her eyes as I kissed her slowly, savoring the moment. I never thought she and I would ever reconnect the way we had.

“I love you, Ty,” she said as she pulled back and looked at me. “I love you so damn much, and I love our house.”

“Our house?” I asked, feeling hope rising but trying not to get too excited too soon.

“Ours. But I still want to take everything slowly. I want us to take time to get to know each other again, especially since these last few months have been so crazy.”

“Hales, I’d happily spend the next ten lifetimes getting to know you again if it meant that you and Trinity were in my life.”

This was just the beginning of our future together. We were going to fight. There would be nights when it would be easier to walk away than sit down and talk about our feelings.

Our relationship wasn’t going to be easy, especially after all this time, but it was going to be worth it.

“Hales,” I said, pulling her to the edge of the counter and wrapping my arms around her waist. I nipped her earlobe and grinned at her soft moan. “What do you say we go check out our bedroom? You’re going to love it.”

She laughed, her head tilting back before she slid down from the counter. “Why don’t we take Trinity outside to see her new treehouse, and then we can go home and start packing?”

“I don’t know,” I said, trailing after her as she went to the playroom. “I was really thinking about that new bedroom.”

Haley turned around with a mischievous gleam in her eyes. “The sooner we pack, the sooner I can bring over the lingerie I’ve been meaning to wear.”

I grinned and tossed her over my shoulder. “Guess we better give Trinity the treehouse tour quick.”

Haley was laughing as I carried her into the playroom and scooped Trinity up, too.
