I sniffled as Tyson turned to look at me, his eyes wide. It was now or never. I had to make the decision that I had been avoiding for the last four years.

When I nodded, I swear his smile lit up the entire world. He looked away from me, his eyes shutting as he held Trinity. I could hear his soft whispers of how much he loved her as I stood in the doorway.

There had been a time when I was worried about what would happen once I finally told Trinity who her father was. I thought that it would happen when she was much older, and Tyson would have still had no clue that she existed.

Watching them together now, I was glad that things had taken the turn that they did. She needed her father in her life, and I didn’t doubt how much Tyson loved her at all.

“We’re going to go have a sleepover at my house,” Tyson said as he set Trinity back on her bed. “What do you want to take with you?”

“Connie,” Trinity said, holding out her raccoon to him. “And my blankie.”

She wrapped her blanket around her shoulders like a cape before taking back her raccoon. Tyson laughed and picked her up, telling her a story about New York while I disappeared to go pack my bag.

“Are you going to be okay?” Bret asked when I stepped into the hallway with an overnight bag slung over my shoulder.

I looked down the hall where Trinity and Tyson were dancing to a song he was humming before looking back at Bret.

“I’m going to be okay,” I said, pulling him into a hug. “I don’t know how you’ve put up with us this long, but thank you.”

“Shut up,” he said, kissing the top of my head. “You know I’d do anything for the both of you. Now, go home with Tyson and get some sleep.”

“I will,” I said.

Tyson grinned at me as all of us left my house together. Bret gave Trinity a quick hug before leaving.

Once we were all settled in Tyson’s truck, he looked over at me with a grin. “Let’s go home.”

“Home sounds nice.”

TYSON

Thesunwasjuststarting to rise when I pulled myself out of the tangled limbs in my bed and grabbed my phone.

Haley and Trinity were still wrapped around each other and nestled in the blankets. As much as I had wanted Haley to myself last night, she had been too worried about leaving Trinity alone for long. Not that I minded. Sleeping with both of them in my arms for the first time was something I never thought would happen.

It was hard to walk away from them when I only wanted to crawl back into bed, but I had some calls to make.

After making a cup of coffee, I sat on my back deck with my phone on speaker beside me. The air was chilly, and the first flakes of snow were starting to fall, even though it was still early in the season.

“You know it’s early in the morning, right?” Camille asked, her tone harsh.

“I know, and I wouldn’t call you if it weren’t an emergency.”

Camille sighed. “It’s a good thing I like you.”

“There are pictures of Haley and Trinity online. I need the pictures of them both gone, especially the pictures of Trinity.”

“I’ll start making some calls and see what I can do.”

I could already hear the clacking of her keyboard in the background as she got to work. Camille was one of the best in the industry, and Clarke had been right in hiring her. I had wanted to go in a different direction, but he had insisted.

Of course, I would never tell him how right he had been.

“Thank you, Camille. I appreciate it.”

“You know, now that they know where you are, they’re going to keep coming.”
