“Marcello obviously doesn’t know that I’m here, and he trusts me because I did everything to gain that trust. If I wanted you dead, I would’ve killed you a long time ago, my boy. I’ve been watching you. From afar. It turned out to be a good decision not to get in touch with you before. Now no one will see this coming.” Her red lips spread into a smile. “And we’ll both get what we want.”
I’m running out of time. It’s not like Marya is asking for something huge from me. It’s worth a shot.
“Fine. We have a deal.” I meet her gaze. “Do you have a pen?”
“Of course.” She flashes me a smile and pulls a pen out of her pocket. “Oh, and I have another copy of the contract too.”
I can barely believe this is actually happening, but if Marya isn’t lying, then I’ll be closer to saving Aurora, which is the only thing I care about right now.

The messagefrom Marya comes as promised. But as I stare at it, I realize one thing.
Marcello and Aurora aren’t in the same place. They’re actually in opposite directions. There’s no way I can get to both places in time.
Sure, I can choose. Take out Marcello like I’ve always wanted. Or go save Aurora and let someone else handle Marcello.
It’s not even a choice. I only care about Aurora. I could try to get both. Save Aurora, and then hope Marcello won’t get notified about it and will stay where he is until I get to him. But that’s too much of a risk. Marcello will get away, and I can’t let that happen.
“Theo!” I yell. “Call Alessandro! Quick!”
I’ve wanted to be the one to put a bullet in Marcello for so long... I even had a plan on what I was going to do to him and how I was going to do it. I pictured it happening in my head so many times. I even worried someone might kill him before me.
But now it just doesn’t matter who pulls the trigger. He needs to die. The details don’t matter. My priorities have changed completely.
I take a better look at Aurora’s location, and a shudder runs through me. It’s the same place where Marcello held me captive and where...
I swear under my breath. That sick and twisted son of a bitch thought I would never look there, and he was right. It wouldn’t have occurred to me that the place still existed or that Marcello would still be using it after my father’s men found it.
I steel myself and head out.

I moveon autopilot as my men and I surround the building where Aurora is. The guards don’t expect us or see us coming, which surprises me, because a part of me still thought Marya would trick me.
I hit a guard in the neck and press myself against the wall as bullets fly everywhere. Soon, all the guards are down, and I lead my men inside.
It’s surreal to be back here, but I don’t feel anything at all. Aurora is my only focus. Nothing else matters. I rush to the cells. Two guards come at me and my men, but we take them out quickly.
The cells are empty, and my blood races through my veins. Where is she?
I hurry upstairs. If she’s not in the cells, then there’s only one place where she can be. That damn room.
My men follow me, and we open fire at anyone who shows up. I burst through the door.
Aurora lies on the bed, her eyes closed, her arms tied to the headboard.
“Aurora!” I tuck my gun in my holster and rush to her.
She doesn’t open her eyes when I place my hand on her cheek.
“Aurora! Wake up!” My hand shakes as I caress her cheek.
Everything around me happens in slow motion. My heart pounds like never before.
“Aurora!”
Please be okay.
