I move as slowly as possible, careful to be quiet. My mother is nowhere in sight, but that doesn’t mean she won’t spring out from somewhere and watch my every step.

I head downstairs. If anyone asks, I’m going for a walk to get some fresh air. No one is in the hallway, so I dash to the storage room.

I peek behind the shelves.

“Oh, my god, Aurora!” Julia throws herself at me and wraps her arms tightly around me. “Are you okay? I was so worried about you, but no one wanted to tell me anything. Just that your father locked you up in your room. I came here every day—”

“I’m fine. It’s good to see you.” I pull away and look into her eyes. “I need a huge favor. I need to get to Purple Pleasure as soon as possible.”

She bobs her head. “We can go tonight. Your father’s gone. I’ll arrange everything.”

“Thank you. Thank you so much.”

“Thank me once we’re safely back home. What happened with your father?” Worry creases Julia’s brow. “I thought he’d never let you out or that he’d put guards to follow you everywhere. Did he find out—?”

“No!” I shake my head. “He wanted me to marry one of his friends, and I messed up his plan.”

“What? Ew.” Julia makes a face of disgust. “Why would he want you to do that?”

“I don’t know. Please set everything up. I have to go. If my mother catches me with you, especially now, she’s going to lose her mind.”

“Yeah, sure. Don’t worry. Go.” She places her hand on my arm and squeezes, giving me a reassuring smile.

I hurry out. If anything goes wrong, we’ll both be screwed. My father will lock me up and throw away the key, or worse. I don’t even want to think about it.

* * *

I chewon the inside of my cheek as I look around the club. Now that I’m here, my stomach is squeezed into a tight ball.

Luca might’ve given up when I didn’t show up. He might not even be here. Julia tried to find someone who could get in touch with him through her friend who works here, but she wasn’t successful.

Apparently, the club has a strict privacy policy and doesn’t want any info about its clients to leak, even if it’s just a friend looking for them.

“Aurora!”

I spin around.

Luca and I stare at each other. His eyes are wide as if he doesn’t believe I’m really standing in front of him. Relief floods my shoulders and warmth fills my chest.

He rushes at me, winding his arms tightly around me. “Where the hell have you been? I’ve been waiting for you.”

“I know. I’m sorry. I was busy.”

He gazes deep into my eyes, and then his lips come crashing down on mine. His kiss is rough and hungry, and it leaves me breathless.

But as his mouth ravages mine, I don’t care about anything. I’m not sick with worry about what will happen to me or what my father will decide next. I’m just here with Luca, existing in our safe, fantasy bubble.

“Let’s go to our room,” he says, glancing around.

People are staring, so he’s right. Our room. It sounds so great. It’s not his room. It’s ours. Mine and his.

I didn’t have to worry about Luca forgetting me. He hasn’t been here with anyone else. I’m sure of it, and my heart feels warmer because of it.

Once we’re in our room, Luca lifts me into his strong embrace. I wrap my legs around him and my arms around his neck as his lips find mine again.

“I’ve missed you so much,” he whispers.

I let out a soft moan because heat is already spreading through my body like wildfire. The effect he has on me is undeniable, and it’s one of the most beautiful sensations ever. I don’t want to think that this is our last time together, and I still have no idea how I’m going to tell him.
