“I’d carry you anywhere.” One finger pops below my chin and he tilts my face up to brush his lips over mine.
Dropping my Converse on the stairs, I slip my feet into my black pumps. I don’t wear heels often. I find them incredibly uncomfortable, and my feet always hurt afterward, even if we don’t do a lot of walking. But I do like the little bit of height they give me, and I do mean little since I keep them on the shorter end because I’m also quite clumsy.
Lochlyn takes my hand and spins me around, whistling. “Wow, my girl is so sexy. I’m the luckiest bastard at the restaurant tonight.”
“What restaurant?”
“Any one. There’s not a single place we could go that I wouldn’t be the luckiest guy in the world to have you with me. And not just because you’re stunning, but because you’re an amazing person.”
My face heats at his words. Even after all this time, I still have no idea how to act or what to say when he compliments me, which he still does regularly.
With my hand still in his grasp, he yanks me against him, and I lose my balance as I fall into his chest. He runs his thumb along the apple of my cheek and across my bottom lip. “Oh, baby girl. What ever am I going to do with you?”
“Kiss me.”
A wide smile spans his face before he closes his mouth over mine, his tongue immediately begging for entrance by sliding across my lips. It’s still as though everything else falls away when Lochlyn kisses me. Still feels like we’re finally connecting with our other half.
It’s when he loses a hand in my hair, pulling me closer, that I feel his desperate need for me, the one that always comes out, the one I share completely. It’s also when I feel him harden in his pants.
“You’re going to make me want to have dessert before dinner.”
While that’s something I’d very much be okay with, I know Lochlyn doesn’t get to eat much during the day since he’s busy. He’s probably starving, and not just for me.
Which is why when he leans back in, I put my fingers to his lips. “We should go, I know you’re hungry.”
“There’s something else I’d rather eat now.”
A throb settles in my clit at the mere thought of his fantastic tongue. “Yes, but that won’t fill you up.”
“Maybe not, but I’ll enjoy it more.” That deep, husky voice almost does me in, but then I hear his stomach grumble, and I know he’d push through his hunger.
“Why don’t we go eat, then when we come home, I’ll let you very slowly remove all my clothing?”
His eyebrows tick up quickly as his pupils widen. “Sounds fantastic to me.”
The only problem with this plan is that now all I can think about is his face between my thighs and feeling him inside me. There’s still no greater feeling in the world.
He practically rushes me out the door and to the Acura. Every so often, he’ll mention upgrading. But I know he loves this car and will do what he can to keep it running.
And I love it too because it’s familiar, it’s homey, it’s Lochlyn. There are so many parts of this car that just scream him, not even including the ever-present scent of his cologne. I can’t drive it without feeling as though he’s with me.
There’re a million memories too, ones I know he’s holding on to as strongly as I am, if not more. He knew some of those early moments of us together, where we were headed, where his heart was. I didn’t. All those rides in the car and I never knew.
The second Lochlyn’s buckled in his seat, he links our fingers and pulls my hand up to his lips, giving me a wide smile.
We go to what’s become our favorite Italian restaurant where even Lochlyn claims the chicken parm is almost as good as his own.
Having such a talented fiancé in the kitchen comes with its own troubles. Sometimes we want to go out for a nice meal, but if he can make it better, it seems silly besides allowing us to avoid the actual cooking and cleanup.
“Have I told you that you look beautiful tonight?” His voice is sincere, and his eyes twinkle in the dim candlelight of our table.
“Not in so many words. I believe you used the word ’sexy’ instead. But I’ll take both.”
“You should know that I still think you’re the most gorgeous woman in the world.” My face burns like the candle in front of me, and I tip my face down with a wide smile.
“I love you, Shay.”
“I love you too.”
