I smirked and faced him. “You know I still love you too, right?”

“I was here for that part.”

“You deserve to hear me say it to your face. To see me… To…” Fuck it. “You’re still my husband. I don’t plan on what we have changing.”

“It won’t.” He furrowed his brow. “Okay, it will. But not in a bad way.”

That was fair. “You figured this out a long time ago, didn’t you?”

“I did. But sometimes you’re slow.”

“I preferstubborn,” I corrected him.

“Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe,” Judith said from behind me. “Sometimes you’re slow.”

This was still the same as it had been since we met Dom. The three of us riffing off each other. The easy teasing and conversation. I’d argue with their phrasing, but I already knew they were wrong. I took Judith’s bag. “You’re telling me you figured things out so much faster than I did?”

“As far as you know.”

I rolled my eyes, and we headed out to Dominic’s SUV. I put Judith’s bag in the back, with his boxes. Something caught my eye and I slipped it into my inside front pocket.

“You’re riding up here with me.” I tugged Judith toward the front passenger seat.

She paused rather than climbing into my lap. “Pretty sure that’s not legal.”

“Fuck legal. I’m not letting go of you for a while.” I offered her my hand.

She shrugged and hopped up. It took her longer than it probably should to get settled, and her squirming had my dick aching for more.

As we headed toward the house, there was so much I wanted to say, but I didn’t want to do it here. It would wait until we were home, safe and warm, with the people I loved.

“You know…” Judith’s tone had shifted to something more demure. More somber. “When I saw Dale at my front door, when I heard him shouting, my entire past came back.”

“I know what you mean.” At least, from my perspective. I wrapped my arms around her, and she leaned her head on my chest.

Dominic navigated city streets with practiced ease. “You both handled it brilliantly.”

“He’s right,” I said. “You were brilliant.”

“I know. I never said I wasn’t.” Like that, Judith sounded like herself again.

I smirked and leaned my cheek against her head.

A short while later, Dominic parked in the garage, and we headed inside. The instant we were through the door, the urge to pin Judith to the wall was back. Thatneedto claim her and fuck her until none of us could think or walk.

But the desire was tempered with the fresh thoughts of the encounter with Dale.

Besides, I’d never romanced her. It was either friendly fun or hard fast sex. And I had the perfect idea to change the tone of the evening. “Have you eaten yet?” I asked her.

“I had lunch with Cole, but that was hours ago.”

Like that my jealousy was back, roaring with distaste.

She smacked me playfully on the chest. “Knock it off.”

“What?”

“Being a jealous prick,” Dominic said.
