“I bet he’s happy about that.”
“Luca loves me.”
“I’m sure he does.”
“So, is Jenna staying with us?” Axel asked me as we walked into the house.
“Yes, until Luca gets home, then she will stay with him. I’m taking her to see Luca tomorrow. He’ll probably be angry, but too bad for him. What do we want for dinner?”
“Tina has a roast in the oven.”
“Great, I’m so tired. I’ll get out of these clothes. I must be gaining weight; my dresses are getting tighter.”
I looked around in my wardrobe and grabbed a pair of sweats. The table was all set when I walked downstairs, and dinner was made. It was delicious too. “I’m sorry I’m leaving you with all the work, Tina. After tomorrow, I’ll be home more. Then court begins on Monday.” I looked at Jenna. “As soon as dinner is over, I’ll show you where your room will be.”
“No, no, no, no, no. I have to go home because Sammy needs me.”
“Sammy is in the hospital. She has doctors and nurses taking care of her. You don’t have to worry about her. We are going to see Luca tomorrow, remember?”
“Oh, yeah. I forgot. I have never been away from Sammy. She will miss me.”
“We’ll call her at the hospital before you go to bed. How about that?”
“Okay, did they fix her phone?”
“We can call her on the hospital phone.”
“Okay.” That was it. She ate her dinner and then started doing the dishes. We helped her. When eight pm came, she sat down to watch the game channel. Tina went to bed, and so did Axel. I didn’t want to go to bed before her. I was worried she might leave trying to find Sammy.
“I’m going to my room. What time do you go to bed, Jenna?”
“After Wheel of Fortune. Can we call Sammy now?”
“I forgot all about that. Let me call the hospital right now.” I sat down and made the call. It was after hours, but I convinced the operator to let her sister tell Jenna goodnight.
“Hello, Samantha; Jenna wants to say good night.”
“Oh, Opal, what would we have done without you? The doctor said I have a good chance of living.”
“I am so happy for you, Samantha. Your sister wants to tell you good night.”
“Sammy, where are you?”
“I’m at the hospital.”
“I’m going to see Luca tomorrow.”
“Tell him I said hello, and that I love him.”
“Okay, bye Sammy.”
“Bye, Jenna. Can you give the phone back to Opal? Hello, Opal. Thank you so much for what you’re doing.”
“You’re welcome. I don’t want you worrying about anything. Good night, Sammy.”
