“Ren—“

“Hush, you little brat,” Hammer snaps as he yanks back on Savior’s hair, makin’ her cry out.

My blood fuckin’ boils.

Turnin’ around, I step in front of Raylynn, blockin’ Savior from her view. “Listen to me, little love.” My voice is low so only she and Archangel can hear me. “I’m gonna get her, but then I’m gonna do some shit you ain’t gonna like.”

Raylynn’s tears spill over, and I grab her face, slammin’ my lips to hers. After a second, her hands grab either side of my face. When I finally pull back, I hold her gaze for a moment before bringin’ my eyes up to Archangel’s and noddin’. Turnin’ my back on ‘em, I step to the middle of the parkin’ lot directly across from Hammer and Savior.

“Oh, big bad enforcer comin’ to defend his bitch and her brat, huh?”

Crackin’ my neck, I take a steadin’ breath. “You want ‘em, Hammer? Me and you, right now. You beat me, their yours.”

Hammer’s eyes scan the circle of our brothers around us, then he smirks. “Like they’re gonna let me just walk outta here after I kill you. I ain’t fuckin’ stupid.”

“No one interferes,” Catacomb yells from somewhere behind me. “He wins, he gets the woman and kid. Got it?”

A round of acknowledgment in different grunts and growls ripples through the club, and Hammer’s smile widens. I on the other hand am already figurin’ out how I want to kill him— because I’m gonna. He ain’t leavin’ this fuckin’ parkin’ lot now.

“Go, brat,” Hammer snaps as he shoves Savior forward.

As soon as he lets go of her hair, she runs as fast as she can toward me, and I squat so she can slam into me. Wrappin’ my arms around her, I hold the back of her head and turn so my lips are near her ear. “Listen to me carefully, little one. I need you to go to your mother, put your face against her, and no matter what you hear, don’t look this way again. Can you do that?”

Savior pulls back from me, tears runnin’ down her little face, and nods. “Ren-Ren?”

“Yes, babygirl?”

“He’s the one that gave me the note,” she whispers.

Glancin’ up at Hammer, my fury multiplies. I’m gonna beat him to death. “I love you, Savior. I want you to know that. You and your momma are the best thing to ever happen to me.”

“I love you, too,” she says.

Standin’, I keep my eyes on her until she’s across the parkin’ lot, her face buried in Raylynn’s leg. To my surprise, Raylynn hands her to a waitin’ Lacey, and once she picks Savior up, my little one buries her face in Lacey’s shoulder. My eyes dart to Raylynn, and I mouth,I love you,to her.

I love you, too, she mouths back.

Grabbin’ the hem of my shirt, I pull it up and over my head, tossin’ it on the ground as I bring my eyes back to Hammer. He’s got the buoy knife in his hand that he held to Savior’s throat, and the smirk is still on his face.

“Let’s dance, motherfucker,” he says a second before he charges me.

Hammer slashes upward with the knife, and I hit his forearm, blockin’ it. He throws a punch from his left, and I block that. When he swipes toward my face, I duck and come up, plantin’ my fist into the side of his face hard enough to make him stagger. Before he fully regains his footin’, he slashes at my again, the tip of the knife nickin’ my side. The stin’ gives away where he cut my skin, but I barely feel it.

With everythin’ in me, I bring another punch down on his face. Then another, and another— and another. Somethin’ snaps under my knuckles and in my head at the same time. Grabbin’ Hammer by the throat, I lift him and bring my other fist down on his face, again and again, until I can’t hold his throat anymore, and drop him in the dirt.

Blood covers my fist, chest, and front of my jeans as I straddle his upper body, hittin’ his face over and over, anger turnin’ to rage as I think about not just what this motherfucker has done but what the Havoc Ryders did to my woman.

“Renegade!” Catacomb’s voice is the only thing that finally registers and I don’t know how long he’s been yellin’ my name. “Cops!”

Gettin’ up and turnin’ to face the street, there’s already flashin’ lights comin’ through the trees that line the driveway leadin’ to the clubhouse. I can’t avoid ‘em, and my eyes meet Raylynn’s and it’s clear she knows it too.

I’m gonna jail.

A moment later, several police cars whip into the parkin’ lot, and the brothers blockin’ ‘em slowly move out of the way. I almost roll my eyes when the first two cops get out of their cars and draw their guns, pointin’ ‘em right at me as I slowly raise my arms and put my hands behind me head, and I realize it’s the two punk cops from Raylynn’s work that damn near got themselves bit by the dog.

Right now, I’m glad the damn dog is inside because he probably would’ve tried to attack Hammer. Damn thing hasn’t left Savior’s side since we brought him with us the other night.

“On the ground!” the first one screams as they move closer to me. Sinkin’ to my knees as another four cop cars come in and the police get out, I notice one of ‘em is Gage. Too bad he ain’t gonna get me out of this one. I don’t even know if Hammer is still fuckin’ alive, and I don’t fuckin’ care.
