Brynne belonged with me. She was mine.
She exhaled and relaxed in my arms. “You make your club sound powerful and invincible.” She lifted her face, and our eyes connected.
“Because we are invincible. We’re Knights.” The corner of my lip curled. “We’re badass bikers, baby.”
“Are the other guys in your club cocky like you?”
“Yes.” I stole a kiss before she could rear her head back. “I promise. We’ll get through this in one piece.”
She shook her head. “Please don’t make promises you don’t know if you can keep. Dorian is also powerful. He has resources everywhere. That’s why he got Raymond.”
“I don’t like this negativity you’re spouting.” I put my hand on her stomach. “It can’t be good for the baby.”
“How do you do that?” She stared at me with a baffled expression.
“Do what?”
“Treat me like nothing has changed. Don’t I disgust you?”
“What?” Now I was the baffled one.
“Our brother is missing, Joseph. We’re family, linked by our brother and sister. What will they think when they find out their brother and sister are having a baby together? My God, just saying those words sounds wrong.”
She had a point, but… “We were already a blended family. Raymond and Valerie are old enough to understand that we aren’t doing anything wrong. We never even knew each other before a few months ago.”
“I hope you’re right. They might think it’s gross or something. I don’t think I could handle any judgment and repulsed looks from others.”
I took her face in my hands and swallowed thickly. “You need to prepare yourself, Brynne. If you want to be with me, you need to be strong. You gotta fight for the three of us.”
“I… I don’t know if I can—”
I sealed my mouth to hers before she could finish. She wasn’t in the right headspace for this conversation. I needed to take her mind off our situation before she made some kind of vow that would only hurt both of us… the three of us.
No chance in hell would I let my child grow up without both parents like Brynne and me. Our baby would have the best of everything, including two parents under the same roof—I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I kissed her firmly and held her head so she couldn’t pull away. She struggled and tried to keep her mouth shut. The fight in her couldn’t beat mine.
“Give in to me,” I hissed through gritted teeth.
“We shouldn’t do this. The timing is wrong.”
“Kissing and loving each other is never wrong.”
“You’re right.” She never ceased to amaze me.
“Glad you think so.”
“But I do need to pee.” She twisted her pink lips. The apples of her cheeks were red, showing her arousal.
“I’ll take you out back, but when we return. You’re mine.”
A flash of lust sparked in her whiskey-brown eyes. “Okay, let’s hurry then.”
Finally, the ten-ton weight on my chest lifted, and I could breathe. Brynne wanted me as much as I wanted her.
My woman had been denying herself. She shouldn’t though. Life was too fucking short not to make the most out of every day we were given. We’d both lost our moms when we were young, but she’d been lucky to get hers back.
“Come on, Bonita.” I got to my feet. “I’ll grab the toilet paper.”
