“Stay, just for a little while longer,” I whispered, my own hands moving along his neck and back.

The longer I was around him or any of them, the harder this was going to be. I knew that. Every single part of me yearned for them and what could be, what would be.

One day.

CHAPTERTHIRTEEN

Kara

For three long and torturous months, Alvaro, Tate, Avery, and Cal consumed my every thought from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed.

Then there were the dreams.

I often woke up panting with slick coating my thighs. The dreams left me so hot and bothered I masturbated every morning and sometimes in the middle of the night. My brain was in a haze of want, and despite letting my heat come full blast over the summer, I felt like I was always on the cusp of another, even on my suppressants.

After my conversation with Alvaro, I’d left to return to the compound the next day, since Kayla’s pack would be coming back. She hadn’t wanted me to drive, but I couldn’t just leave Ella’s car in Los Angeles, and I needed the time to think.

I’d called Ella on my drive and confessed to my crime, leaving out that I’d found a pack. She was disappointed but didn’t seem angry. In fact, the day I was set to return, she used her dean of students pull to get me back into the compound without much fanfare.

The Estrada pack had done well on their assessment, but because of the sudden change in their results, the Pack Health Organization wanted to assess them again in the new year before recommending that Omega Protective Services allow them to participate in Omega Match again.

I didn’t think I could make it until spring without them.

My phone buzzed with a message as I sat in my office at the academy, waiting for an omega to show up to discuss her failing a test. I was filling in for a bonded omega who was out on maternity leave, and I had to admit, I loved teaching, and it kept my mind occupied throughout the day.

Tate:We have a surprise for you.

Me:It’s not a pallet of Squishmallows, is it? Jane and Princess were not happy with the sudden influx of cuddlers on the bed.

Cal:It wasn’t a pallet... it was a very large box.

Me:It came on a pallet, and they removed it with a forklift. I had to tell everyone I accidentally ordered one pallet instead of just one, and then when they offered to take them off my hands, I told them no and looked like I was a crazy Squishmallow lady.

Alvaro:You are a crazy Squishmallow lady, though.

Me:I’ll remember that.

Alvaro:I look forward to it.

Avery:Can we not start down this path... we have a show tonight and our dancing sucks when we have boners.

Me:Spoilsport. I can’t wait to see you guys perform tonight.

I bit my lip and swiveled around to look out the window. If I thought about how close I was going to be to them, I would burst into tears like I had every time I had over the past week.

We talked nearly every day by text messages and occasionally on the phone and video chat. We’d discovered quickly that hearing and seeing each other was not the best idea. It made us all irritable, and with them being in the public eye, that was the last thing we needed.

Avery:One of us has to be the voice of reason.

Alvaro:Says the alpha who has pictures of her plastered all over his bunk, including a large one on the ceiling.

Tate:We all have pictures of her...

Me:Go on. This is great for my ego.

Cal:Avery’s is stalker level, though. Sometimes I’ll lie in there and...

Avery:Don’t finish that sentence. Time to sage my bunk to get out the spunk.
