As I let Beau in, I glanced toward my stairs. A few minutes of looking through some real estate listings wouldn’t take too long. It would only make Rayne’s orgasm that much better when it happened.
Speaking of which…
As I walked with Beau to my kitchen, I pulled up the app that controlled the vibrator and turned it on to a low setting.
I listened for Rayne to make a noise, wondering if I should have gagged her, but whatever she was doing to keep quiet was working.
Beau set his computer on the kitchen counter and opened the cover.
“You could have emailed them to me,” I offered.
“I know. But I wanted to show you in person and let you know what I think.”
I couldn’t argue with that. “Good point.”
We managed to get through the listings in a half hour. There were only four, and two of them were immediate noes.
“I think we need to wait for more or really think about the other two.”
Beau closed his laptop. “One other thing.”
I shifted from one foot to the other and grabbed my phone to turn off the vibrator. I had been messing with the settings the whole time, but I was feeling guilty and thought she deserved a break.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“We could always buy an already-established restaurant that’s for sale.”
I frowned, ready to tell him,Hell no.
My best friend held up his hand. “Just give it a thought. I don’t even know if there are any for sale, but we would be able to open for business a lot sooner.”
“But you’d be where you are now. Making someone else’s recipes.”
Rubbing the back of his neck, he sighed. “I know. But I’d be able to add my own at some point.”
Seeing that he was stressed, I said, “I will think about it, but I’m not going to give up after four buildings. And you shouldn’t either.”
He nodded. “You’re right. I won’t.”
I glanced at the clock on the microwave.
Beau chuckled. “Got somewhere to be?”
Yeah. My bedroom.
I lifted a shoulder. “Kind of.”
“Shit, man, why didn’t you say so?” He picked up his computer. “Sorry about tonight. I was hoping we’d hang this afternoon. But rain check? I haven’t seen you much since the bet started.”
“Next Saturday. Guys’ night.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
I showed Beau to the door and sprinted up the stairs. Slowly, I pushed open my bedroom door, unsure of what I’d find.
Maybe an angry Rayne. Or worse, a sad Rayne or hurt Rayne because I’d left her handcuffed to my bed and alone for so long.
When she’d started talking earlier about a future boyfriend or fuck buddy—whether real or not—I had been filled with the need to shut her up and show her she was mine. At least, for right now.
